RICK WARREN: UNDERSTANDING UNBELIEVERS AND JUST EXACTLY HOW GOOD HE IS AT IT

“The longer you’re a believer, the less you think like an unbeliever. After you come to Christ, your interests and values change,” and so begins Rick Warren in this guest column for Christian Post. The Purpose Driven Pastor then continues, “If you’re going to advertise your church, you must learn to think and speak like unbelievers.” Uh Rick, what do you suppose every one of us now in Christ were prior to our becoming believers? Could it have been… UN-believers?

Notice above how Warren talks about advertising our churches and yet Mark Kelly, Saddleback spin doctor, insists Warren doesn’t use marketing. Right. Now you will see for yourself how Warren markets himself in a puff piece at the end of the article as Mr. Seeker Sensitive boasts yet again:

I began Saddleback Church by going door-to-door for 12 weeks and surveying the unchurched in my area. I wrote down in my notebook five questions I would use to start Saddleback… This survey has been reprinted in dozens of books and articles. Several thousand churches have now used these five questions in their own communities. One denomination that I consulted with used these questions to start 102 new churches on a single day!
