BRIAN MCLAREN: “EVERYTHING MUST CHANGE” – THE STORY WE FIND OURSELVES IN (PART 3)

Chris Rosebrough of Extreme Theology has now posted part 3 of his review of Brian McLaren’s new book “Everything Must Change”.

In this installment Rosebrough begins to examine McLaren’s mis-information regarding Orthodox Christian doctrine as well as the very clear Emerging doctrinal definitions that Brian McLaren provides in this book.

Said Rosebrough:

In chapter 10 of “Everything Must Change” McLaren gives us the clearest and most comprehensive outline of his Emergent views. He does this by comparing “Conventional Christianity’s” answers to four basic questions to the Emerging View’s answers to those same questions. The four questions are:

1. The Human Situation: What is the story we find ourselves in?

2. What questions did Jesus come to answer?

3. Jesus’ Message: How did Jesus respond to the crisis?

4. Purpose of Jesus: Why is Jesus important?

In this post we are going to look at the first question, “What is the story we find ourselves in” and see how McLaren defines the two positions.
