BUT DO EMERGENCE CHRISTIANITY AND BRIAN MCLAREN REALLY LOVE GAY PEOPLE?

Jesus said to his disciples: “Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come. (Luke 17:1)

Brian McLaren Leave The Judging To Jesus And Get Your Own Emergent House In Order

Yesterday in a not so veiled promotion piece for something called Bridge the Gap Brian McLaren, a head Guru of Emergence Christianity, pontificated concerning an editorial by Jonathan Merritt in USA Today as he said patronizingly:

Even if we might take a stand that differs from his in some ways, those of us who know the world Jonathan comes from know he is showing remarkable courage to say what he’s saying and should be applauded and appreciated. (Online source

Right, like it actually takes “remarkable courage” to say anything at all within today’s insipid everything goes evangelicalism; and particularly when it’s the “in,” and politically correct, thing to say as we again attack our little straw men. Yet how often we critical of this new de-formation of Christianity perpetrated by the Emerging Church rebellion against Sola Scriptura hear: Well, [insert counterfeit Christian teacher here] doesn’t speak for us.

As you wish; well how’s this, Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell etc. don’t speak for all of the conservative Bible-believing Christians either. I coudn’t care less what [insert celebrity-level evangelical leader here] has to say concerning their opinions about the issue of homosexuality; I care, “What does the Bible—God’s Word—itself have to say.” If so-and-so’s opinions, speculations, and/or teachings, line up with that (see—Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21) then I will agree; if not, then it matters little what they say.

This brings me right back to Brian McLaren’s opining that evangelicals “learn to be more loving and Christ-like to their gay and lesbian friends and neighbors.” Ok; but out of the other side of his rather active mouth McLaren will tell us, “Tony Jones continues to foster good dialogue on this.” Really; let me refresh the memory of Mr. “Five Year Moratorium” about his friend Tony Jones. After-all, while McLaren’s been so busy bluring and clouding what the Bible so clearly says regarding the sin of practicing homosexuality I guess he could have missed it.

You see, Jones himself isn’t dialoguing about his views of homosexuality at all; no, he’s already come to his existential conclusion:

I now believe that GLBTQ can live lives in accord with biblical Christianity (at least as much as any of us can!) and that their monogamy can and should be sanctioned and blessed by church and state. (Online source, bold his)

My question to Emergence Christianity is: So when are you loving  “Christ-followers” going to love gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and/or queer people enough to stop lying to them and tell these dear people the truth—trapped as they are within their sin of practicing sexual immorality of the same sex variety: No one practicing sin of ANY kind in an unrepentant manner will enter the Kingdom.

Well, Brian McLaren; we’re waiting:

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, NASB)
