*UPDATE* DID JAY BAKKER SAY JESUS SINNED?

Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. (Jude 3, ESV)

Jay Bakker Gets Ready For Prime Time

Over this past year Apprising Ministries has been covering gay-affirming “pastor” Jay Bakker of Revolution:NYC, may recall that Bakker also heads up a rather rapscallion bunch of largely biblically illiterate and self-described Outlaw Preachers (OP).

As I told you yesterday in Jay Bakker Reflects The Sad Condition Of The Visible Church, make no mistake, Bakker’s star is on the rise within the sinfully ecumenical Emerging Church—which is a cult of neo-liberalism now firmly within mainstream of the visible church. You need to understand that Bakker, who’s good friends with EC guru Brian McLaren and EC progressive theologian Tony Jones, will even be a featured speaker at an important Emerging Church conference in September called Big Tent Christianity: Being and Becoming the Church.

In fact, Bakker is tip-of-the-spear pushing for acceptance within evangelicalism that the deviant and sinful lifestyle of having sexual relations with another of the same sex, i.e homosexuality, is a viable one for the regenerated Christian. This is a key EC point of attack as it continues its assault upon proper biblical Christianity; and Bakker’s whole shtick is spreading the myth that the practice of homosexuality isn’t always sinful. However, homosexuality is a sin of sexual immorality because sexual relations with a member of the same sex will always be outside the marriage covanant designed by God.

Below you’ll be able to read an excerpt from When Law Gets In The Way wherein Jay Bakker tried to defend Jennifer Knapp’s sinful homosexual lifestyle. First “pastor” Bakker demonstrates he does not even have a grasp of the Gospel that he’s supposed to preach; but if that isn’t bad enough, look at what he then tries to tell us about Jesus:

And we sit and we go, (in a mocking tone) “Oh, we’re filthy sinners; we’re filthy rags, we’re horrible sinners in need of grace. Oh, I’m just a sinner saved by grace brother. I’m filthy rags.” (pause) You know; and in some ways it’s like Jesus saying, “No I died for you; no matter who you are, no matter what you did.” All sin, all fall short, but God in His gracious kindness declares us “not guilty.”

And so [in] a way, you know, you see this with Peter; you see this with Paul; you see this with Jesus, you see this with Jesus and the woman at the well. You see this in all different sorts of areas, where Jesus is, like, being unclean, unceremonially [sic] clean, which I really think would have been considered a sin at that time.

Ok, people [are] like–I mean, really think about it; He’s breaking religious law. That would be considered–wouldn’t that be considered a sin, Peter? You ([1] speaking to his assistant pastor Reverend Vince Anderson) yes; I mean, you know, you’re the scholar in the house. (laughter) Vince is, like, “Whew.” (more laughter) No; would it be a sin to break the Law? Yeah! Thank you.

We actually have Peter, from the Bible, right here. (more laughter) (12:35-13:46)

You can download and/or listen to this “sermon” for yourself right here.

1. Update: Instead of dealing with his heretical teaching that the God in human flesh sinned, all Bakker would later offer after being made aware of this post is: @tragic_pizza I was actually talking to @PeterRollins when I asked the question about braking the law as being a sin. O that KS…. (Online source)
