HERETICS AND THE CROSS

For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, the elect. (Mark 13:22)

Spiritual Deception Depends Upon Counterfeit Experience Which Looks And Feels Real

Apprising Ministries with just a little heads up that heretics know how to use the language well in order to draw in their unsuspecting prey. For example, here’s latest tweet from false prophet Todd Bentley:

Pastor Bob DeWaay has a very accurate saying: Deceptions that do not “work” have a short shelf life. We must also come to realize that a lot of what e.g. I’m covering here at AM these past 5+ years is, in fact, interrelated because they are moved by the very seducing spirits who’ve been known right in the pages of Scripture for duping people with “nice” experiences.

Haven’t you read — “say to the seers, ‘Do not see,’ and to the prophets, ‘Do not prophesy to us what is right; speak to us smooth things, prophesy illusions.'” (Isaiah 30:10); or — “They have healed the wound of my people lightly, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace.” (Jeremiah 6:14). Quite obviously these smooth, pleasant, and peaceful things weren’t of God.

One of the major teachings of demons advanced by deceitful spirits toward the extremely gullible evangelical public, right now, is that if someone has a “nice” and/or “good” experience of a supernatural sort it’s automatically assumed to be of God. Bit this is wrong; spiritually dead wrong.

In the warning from Jesus in my text verse above we find very good reason to be fearful. In this generation, you’d best be sure that you really do have a relationship with God through Christ because these counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders will look exactly the same as the true miracles, signs and wonders done by the original Apostles.

Actually, the very same Greek words are also used by God in Hebrews 2:4 regarding the signs and wonders and various miracles done of the Holy Spirit in the first century. And common sense will tell you that, the closer to the original a counterfeit is made to look, the more effective it’s going to be.

So you’d better know what the text of the Bible says; and remember, just because something appears to work; or feels good, or seems so “loving,” it most certainly does not necessarily mean it really is of God. Therefore, it doesn’t take a degree in theology to understand how spurious spiritual practice always ends in deadly deception.
