ORAL ROBERTS' GRANDSON COMING OUT AS A HOMOSEXUAL

In articles like Jay Bakker Critiques Ken Silva At Religion Dispatches and Doug Pagitt And The Emerging Church Gay Agenda and  Gay Christian Singer Jennifer Knapp Out On Larry King Live here at Apprising Ministries I’ve been doing what I can to remind you that looming only slightly off the horizon of the mainstream evangelical community there is indeed a same-sex storm right now gathering hurricane force.

Let me tell you that the evil influence of the Emerging Church[1] is really going to be felt in the arena of a growing acceptance within evangelicalism that the deviant and sinful lifestyle of having sexual relations with another of the same sex, i.e homosexuality, is a viable one for the regenerated Christian.

The core EC doctrine of pietistic Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism (CSM)[2] has horribly corrupted younger sectors of evangelicalism, which have now largely abandoned the proper Christian spirituality of sola Scriptura. Unfortunately, once one does this, fallen human reasoning becomes the only criterion left when it comes to judging whether or not God has spoken.

If you want to know where the battle lines will be drawn, then take a good look at the mortally wounded mainline denominations who long ago gave in to the Cult of Liberalism and kicked out sola Scriptura as well. Behold the new progressive/liberal rebels against the authority of the Bible masquerading as evangelicals like gay-affirming “pastor” Jay Bakker[3].

You need to know that Bakker, who is good friends with EC guru Brian McLaren and EC progressive theologian Tony Jones[4], is the tip-of-the-spear for this EC area of attack upon proper Biblical Christianity. He’s also a perfect example of this new Morris Alpert “nothing more than feelings” theology that’s fast becoming such an integral part of mainstream evangelcalism.

Bakker’s already told us that his position concerning the activities of the LGBT community was not arrived at by consulting the Bible; but rather, he arrived at it through a personal chat he supposedly had with the LORD God Almighty. Apparently God has confided in Jay Bakker that He’s now changed His mind about the practice of homosexuality:

“The more I follow grace, the more I’m drawn to him [God], the more I’m willing to stand up for people being persecuted,” said Bakker. “It sounds so churchy, but I felt like God spoke to my heart and said ‘[homosexuality] is not a sin.’ ” (Online source, emphasis mine)

My advice is that you had best get ready for gay affirming arguments like the above, which as you see are not based upon Scripture, because quite likely they will be erupting right in your own local church among the young. My thought is that in the not too distant future someone from the evangelical camp will come out gay, which will detonate this issue within the walls of mainstream evangelical churches.

The fact is, for years now EC advocates have already been planted inside evangelical publishing houses, as well as within its denominational structures and its seminaries. Perceived conservative evangelicalism really needs to heed the wake-up call sent out by the mainline denominations as we watch them quite literally being ripped apart by the highly divisive pro-gay lobby eating away at them from within.

Evangelicalism should begin preparing itself for the very same debates to erupt right within its own halls. It is going to come as a huge surprise to many evanjellyfish—unity at all costs—leaders when they find out that most professing Christians don’t actually hold to the final authority of God’s Word in the Bible at all. And so what are you then left with; everyone only doing what is right in their own eyes ala Judges 17:6.

This coming nightmare edges a little closer as I point you now to the Christian Post report Oral Roberts’ Grandson Discusses Coming Out as a Homosexual where CP contributor Vincent Funaro tells us:

Randy Roberts Potts, the grandson of renowned televangelist Oral Roberts, plans to discuss his experience of growing up as a homosexual in a Christian home on Sunday at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. (Online source)

Actually the website of All Souls Unitarian Church (ASUC) says Potts was there this past Sunday as part of their Summer Sermon Series; and as you can see, the Sunday coming will bring in universalist heretic Carlton Pearson to share his Shift Happens mythology with ASUC:

(Online source)

We notice the rhetoric of the coming Global Religion with Pearson sounding not too unlike the aforementioned Brian McLaren; and we already know he subscribes to universalism along the lines of the Love Wins mythology of the Emerging Church icon Rob Bell. As far as Randy Potts himself is concerned, ASUC said it featured him Sunday, July 17, 2011 with Miracles and Mendacity.

They further inform us:

(Online source)

Since this isn’t a Christian church, and Potts is unrepentant in his homosexual sin, we’re safe in assuming Potts’ “message of hope to gay youth” is not the Gospel of repentance and forgiveness of sins in Jesus’ Name. This is pretty obvious when we see we’re mentally off-roading again into the postmodern Wonderland of “re-imagining religion” [translation: redefining Christianity].

In the video below “Rev.” Marlin Lavanhar, Senior Minister social worker (let’s call him what he is), tells us about all about this summer sermon series where you head to The Build-A-god Shop and simply have your own “faith tradition” constructed. I do hope you understand that through the McLarens and Bells this is all emerging closer and closer to the mainstream of apostatizing evangelicalism.

Vincent Funaro of CP now continues:

At the age of 27 Potts decided to pursue a homosexual lifestyle after counseling led him to believe he was gay.

“I told my wife a few years later that I had to leave, and we were divorced legally in June of 2006,” said Potts, “I have been openly gay ever since.” They hold joint custody over their 3 children who are 8, 10 and 12-years-old. (Online source)

A sad story; let’s be praying for this family in such pain, may the Lord lead someone across their path anointed by God to preach the Gospel to them in the Holy Spirit with power. This obviously isn’t going to happen at a spiritual blackhole like ASUC; and that’s the very heart of the matter with such as these reprobates who, quite frankly, simply do not love LGBT people for whom Christ died enough to tell them the truth.

This is God’s world; Christ Jesus is Lord whether you believe it or not, and even the most pouty postmodern won’t be able to hold their spiritual breath until they get their way. That same-sex sexual activity, i.e. homosexuality, has been deemed sinful by God is as clear as it gets in His infallible and inerrant Word in the Bible. There’s zero to discuss. Well, that is if you do actually believe what is says.

It is as theologian Dr. R.C. Sproul has brought out in his exposition of Romans 1:26:

For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature (v. 26)…when the apostle Paul describes the radical corruption of the human race, he sees the sin of homosexual behavior as the sin most representative of the radical nature of our fall.

It is seen here not simply as a sin, nor even as a serious sin or a gross sin, but as the clearest expression of the depths of our perversity…when we become involved in homosexual practices, we are not only sinning against God but against the nature of things. (Online source)

Unfortunately, those who prostrate themselves before the mystic mush god with the man-shaped hole in his/her/its heart, love mankind more than God; and so they work at trying to obfuscate the clear texts of Scripture. Don’t fear them; fight them, and contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints (Jude 3). They won’t find in history where the orthodox Christian Church has not taught homosexuality is sin.

Funaro also tells us in his CP piece that:

Although Randy Potts says he holds on to some spirituality, he also testifies that he does not quite identify completely with Christianity.

“I don’t use a label to define my spirituality. Labels rather divide than unite,” said Potts.
(Online source)

Well, there’s no such thing as not completely pregnant; got the message? You are, or you’re not. “I don’t use a label to define my spirituality,” says Potts. It sure looks to me like he’d fit in just fine under the big tent with The Emerging Church On Their Wild Goose Chase; Funaro finishes up by pointing out:

Randy Potts plans to write a book about his life experience as a homosexual which he will discuss at All Souls Unitarian Church on Sunday. (Online source)

Yet another book to tell unrepentant LGBT people what they have already decided beforehand that they want to hear:

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

In closing this, for now, if you didn’t know, then please permit me to be the first to tell you: It’s here; right now. This has also arrived at a time where Rodney King can’t-we-all-just-get-along theology rules the roost in the visible church. No, we can’t all just get along; and truth be told, it’s God Who doesn’t want us to. A real man sent by Christ Jesus will tell you:

There are few things in religion which men are so ready to forget as the duty of “contending earnestly for the faith,” and holding fast the truth.

Controversy is seldom popular. Most men like a quiet life in religion. They dislike anything like strife, trouble, contest, and exertion. They will give up much for the specious pretext of securing peace. They are apt to forget that peace procured at the expense of truth is not worth having. In short, they need reminding of St. Paul’s golden words: “Hold fast that which is good” (1 Thessalonians 1:21).

Reader, when St. Paul said, “Hold fast,” he wrote as one who knew what the hearts of all Christians are. He knew that our grasp of the Gospel, at our best, is very cold,—that our love soon waxes feeble,—that our faith soon wavers,—that our zeal soon flags,—that familiarity with Christ’s truth often brings with it a species of contempt,—that, like Israel, we are apt to be discouraged by the length of our journey,—and like Peter, ready to sleep one moment and fight the next,—but like Peter, not ready to “watch and pray.” All this St. Paul remembered, and, like a faithful watchman, he cries, by the Holy Ghost, “Hold fast that which is good.”

He wrote as if he foresaw by the Spirit that the good tidings of the Gospel would soon be corrupted, spoiled, and plucked away from the Church. He wrote as one who foresaw that Satan and all his agents would labour hard to cast down Christ’s truth. He wrote as if he would forewarn men of this danger, and he cries, “Hold fast that which is good.”

Reader, the advice is always needed—needed as long as the world stands. (Online source)

I say in the Lord, if you choose to sit this one out the mainstream will soon mirror the mainline. And this generation of slimy spiritual snakes who would dare to call themselves Christians, but who do not what Christ says, and obey not the Gospel of God, have no place in the Christian community. O, but you say, “What will the world think if we throw them out?” I’ll tell you: Great fear came upon all who heard of it (Acts 5:5).

Or have you forgotten, God does not think as men think:

For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.”

Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. (1 Corinthians 1:18-21)

Quit ye this bowing before mankind; and stand up for the Truth of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ…

End Notes:

[1] The sinfully ecumenical neo-liberal cult of the Emergent Church aka the Emerging Church has now been upgraded to the Emerging Church 2.0—with its newer, more clearly delineated, postmodern Progressive Christian theology, which these rebels against the final authority of the Word of God will often refer to under their circus “big tent” as Emergence Christianity.

[2] CSM is a mystic voodoo perpetrated under the guise of Spiritual Formation (SF) by Living Spiritual Teacher and Quaker mystic Richard Foster along with his friend and spiritual twin SBC minister Dallas Willard and  is a growing and corrupt spiritual blight within the evangelical community.

[3] Bakker, who really shouldn’t even be teaching Sunday School—let alone pastoring a church—heads up a group of largely biblically illiterate and rather rapscallion bunch spiritually who’ve anointed themselves Outlaw Preachers.

[4] Living Spiritual Teacher McLaren and Jones are part of the unholy EC trinity of apostates along with Doug Pagitt, heretical universalist pastor of Solomon’s Porch, where his equally heretical friend Tony Jones is his “theologian in residence.”
