A DIVINE HUNGER

I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh: Who are Israelites. (Romans 9:1-4)

Paul becomes a savior of many because his heart’s desire and prayer to God are that they may be saved.

O, I would to God there should come upon us a divine hunger that cannot stay itself except men yield themselves to Jesus; an intense, earnest longing, a panting desire that men should submit themselves to the gospel of Jesus.

This will teach you better than the best college training how to deal with human hearts. This will give the stammering tongue the ready word, the hot heart shall burn the cords that held fast the tongue.

You shall become wise to win souls, even though you never exhibit the brilliance of eloquence or the force of logic. Men shall wonder at your power—the secret shall be hidden form them, the fact being that the Holy Ghost shall overshadow you.

And your heart shall teach you wisdom, God teaching your heart. Deep feelings on your part for others shall make others feel for themselves, and God shall bless you, and that right early.[1]
