WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT FALSE PROPHETS AND FALSE TEACHERS

By Bud Press of Christian Research Service

When discussing false prophets and false teachers, let’s bear in mind that God doesn’t mince words, and neither should we. Here is what God has to say:

False prophets and false teachers,

– foretell false prophecies (Jeremiah 5:31; Jeremiah 14:14)

– strengthen the hands of evildoers (Jeremiah 23:14)

– prophesy peace when there is none (Jeremiah 23:17)

– teach lies to their followers (Jeremiah 28:15)

– there is no light in them (Isaiah 8:20)

– foretell false and foolish visions (Lamentations 2:14)

– produce rotten fruit (Matthew 7:15-20)

– unknown to Jesus and destined for hell (Matthew 7:22-23)

– evil and adulterous, and seek after a sign and wonder (Matthew 16:4)

– pretend to be miracle workers (Matthew 24:22-23)

– claim to be Christ and see Jesus Christ (Matthew 24:23-26)

– teach corruption (2 Peter 2:10-22)

– pervert grace and under a curse from God (Galatians 1:6-9)

– called false brothers (Galatians 2:4)

– lovers of money (Romans 16:17-18)

– teach damnable heresy and deny Jesus Christ (2 Peter 2:1)

– resist the truth (2 Timothy 3:8)

– lovers of fables (2 Timothy 4:3-4)

– destitute of the truth (1 Timothy 6:3-5)

– unstable (1 Timothy 1:6-7)

– hold to a form of godliness, but deny its power (2 Timothy 3:5)

– evil men and impostors who proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived (2 Timothy 3:13)

– turn from truth and embrace mythology (2 Timothy 4:4)

– cunningly deceptive (Ephesians 4:14)

– savage wolves (Acts 20:27-31)

– daring, self-willed, unreasoning animals (2 Peter 2:10-12)

– eyes full of adultery that never cease from sin (2 Peter 2:14)

– reserved for the black darkness (2 Peter 2:17)

– turn the grace of God into licentiousness and deny Christ (Jude 4)

– call God a liar and claim sinless perfection (1 John 1:6-10)

– overshadowed by, and servants of, Satan (2 Corinthians 11:13-15)

– preach a false gospel, false “Jesus” and receive a false spirit (2 Corinthians 11:4)

God makes it crystal clear that He is against those who prophesy and teach falsely. There is no fellowship between God, false prophets, and false teachers.

Unless they repent and are born again, God will deal with them severely at His appointed time (Jeremiah chapter 23; Matthew 7:21-23; Revelation 20:11-15).
