In this short clip below where McLaren plugs his new book Why Did Jesus, Moses, the Buddha, and Mohammed Cross the Road?—endorsed not surprisingly by Rob Bell—all doubts are dispelled as he says:
My answer to the question Why did Jesus, Moses, the Buddha, and Mohammed cross the road is simply, this: To get to “the other.”
In other words, everything we know about Jesus, Moses, the Buddha, and Mohammad, tells us that—if they were here today—they would be trying to lead us into an encounter with the other where, instead of killing one another, and hating one another, we would discover one another.
As all God’s children…
As I showed you back in September of 2010 in Brian McLaren Speaks As A Universalist, the Emergent Church guru is already on record with his quasi-Quaker at-one-ment mythology, which negates the need for regeneration:
I think we need a third option, an “above the line” option, so to speak. That option is a strong Christian identity that says something like this: “Because I follow Jesus, I see you as my neighbor and I love you, as I love myself, whatever your religion. Because I follow Jesus, I believe God loves you and accepts you just as you are.
Because I follow Jesus, I believe that the Holy Spirit is active throughout the world and that the light of Christ has already shined on you and is at work in and around you. (source)
