THE DUBIOUS ATTACK ON SOLA SCRIPTURA BY T.D. JAKES

B

It’s a sad sign of the times in this gelatinous generation that Apprising Ministries has to cover Word Faith wingnuts like trinitarian modalist T.D. Jakes in the context of mainstream evangelicalism.

Yet, thanks to ecumenical evangelical magisterium members James MacDonald and Mark Driscoll at their Elephant Room 2 council, Jakes has now even found refuge within younger Reformed sectors.

Even though, turns out actually James MacDonald Was A Bit Late In Mainstreaming T.D. Jakes. Consider a 2005 piece by Ken Camp called ‘Second Reformation’ will unify church, Warren tells Dallas GDOP.

Unfortunately, it has since disappeared from the Pastors.com website of Rick Warren. This happens to be an all too common occurrence with Rick Warren, so I have saved the page on file here at AM.

Camp would tell us about “a multi-racial gathering of 12,000 Baptists, charismatics, nondenominational evangelicals, and others at Dallas’ Reunion Arena for a Global Day of Prayer rally May 15.”

In that 2005 report he also informed us that Warren had proposed:

If Christians mobilize to confront the five “global giants” of spiritual emptiness, egocentric leadership, poverty, disease, and lack of education, it could spark a second Reformation, author Rick Warren…

“The first Reformation was about belief; this one’s going to be about behavior,” said Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church in Southern California and author of the best-selling The Purpose-Driven Life. “The first one was about creeds; this one’s going to be about our deeds. The first one divided the church; this time it will unify the church.” (source)

Really? Rick Warren wrote The Purpose-Driven Life; odd that he never mentions it, who knew? Of this 2005 Prayer rally Camp also revealed that:

Ten days of individual and small-group prayer preceded the rallies, and 90 days of service through Habitat for Humanity, prison ministries, and other community outreach initiatives follow the Global Day of Prayer.

Jack Graham, pastor of the predominantly Anglo Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, and T.D. Jakes, pastor of the mostly African-American Potter’s House in southwest Dallas, served as co-chairs for the North American event. (source)

You can see that the SBC’s Dr. Jack Graham, an ER 2 vet himself, had already yoked himself with T.D. Jakes; and in addition, Warren also apparently considered T.D. Jakes an orthodox evangelical as well.

No wonder the Lord’s now sending spiritual blindness and 1 Peter 4:17 judgements upon even the mainstream of the evangelical community. From this proper perspective then I point you to the segment below:

Chris Rosebrough of Fighting for the Faith examines a portion of a recent sermon by T.D. Jakes where he twists and mangles Mark 11:22-25 and tells flat out historical lies in an attempted assault on Sola Scriptura. (source)
