RICK WARREN ON OPRAH’S LIFECLASS AGAIN FEBRUARY 24TH

A

Apprising Ministries has been covering Joel Osteen and Rick Warren—both disciples of human potential teaching a la Robert Schueller —and their joining with Oprah Winfrey and her spiritually bankrupt Lifeclass.

You’ll recall that Winfrey brought even more notoriety to heretical Word Faith prosperity preacher Joel Osteen, which I showed you in As She Visits His Church Joel Osteen Celebrates What God Is Doing With Oprah.

Rick Warren has appeared of Oprah’s old TV show in 2005 but that was to help hawk his book The Purpose Driven Life, which had “landed in the media spotlight.” NPR’s Barbara Bradley Hagerty refreshes our memory:

That cultural moment was prompted by Ashley Smith, an Atlanta woman who was taken hostage by Brian Nichols, who had killed several people, including the judge overseeing his rape trial. During the ordeal, Smith read to her captor from A Purpose Driven Life, and they discussed spiritual issues.

In the morning, Nichols surrendered to police peacefully. Oprah Winfrey featured the story on her program, and as Smith cried “No way!” Oprah welcomed Rick Warren onto the set. (source)

However, that’s a far cry from lending his own credibility to Oprah Winfrey. The sad fact is here we have one of America’s highest profile Christian pastors accepting Oprah as a spiritual teacher by being part of her Lifeclass.

This is what Warren’s already done; and we see this quite often from him. For example, just the other day we witnessed Rick Warren And His Brother, “His Eminence” Timothy Cardinal Dolan Archbishop Of New York.

Yet in spite of this kind of pitiful public witness, John Piper would still declare Warren “doctrinal and sound” and bring him in to his Desiring God 2010. Is this Piper endorsing Rick Warren? You decide:

Piper’s statements of support would blow open the door right into the New Calvinist sector of which he’s a leading mentor. That’s why, just a few weeks ago we saw this Mark Driscoll Loves Rick Warren And So Do Many Others.

In what should be a solid area of the church community, you may wonder just how bad this kind of compromise has become? Consider the other day as Piper protégé Mark Driscoll Defends His Christian Brother Joel Osteen.

Who knows, maybe next time we’ll see Mark Driscoll as a teacher on Oprah Winfrey’s Lifeclass. Be that as it may, let me tell you that yesterday Oprah posted the video below concerning Warren’s next teaching in her Lifeclass:

Oprah and Pastor Rick Warren help viewers answer life’s biggest questions: What on earth am I here for? What is my purpose? Plus, Oprah and Pastor Warren discuss the three levels of existence—survival, success and significance.

Notice that Rick Warren and Oprah Winfrey are set to “discuss the three levels of existence—survival, success and significance.” Based upon what we’ve seen many times before from Warren, we’re not expecting the Gospel.

These unbelievers in Oprah’s church likely will not hear from Warren that their only chance of avoiding eternity in hell is to repent and trust in Jesus Christ, our crucified and risen Savior, for the forgiveness of their sins.

No, tragically, what these poor souls—for whom Christ died—are much more likely to hear is Rick Warren’s fable that he originally shared at Ted in 2006. He actually lied to all the unrepentant sinners there in that audience.

Warren dreamed the following man-centered mythology:

Did you know that God smiles when you be you…

The bottom line is: God gets pleasure watching you be you.
