THE GOD OF SCRIPTURE

A

Anyone with even a modicum of spiritual discernment can see that there’s very rough spiritual sea dead ahead. The plethora of people-pleasing prophets telling you otherwise are lying to you; whether they know it  or not.

Should sagging funding continue to allow, it will remain part of my job here at Apprising Ministries to tell you this truth and to continue documenting the falling away of the evangelical community.

The sad fact is that the spiritual cesspool known as Fuller Theological Seminary has played a huge roll in the rot advanced by the man-centered Church Growth Movement (CGM, which was vomited out of it.

You need to understand that the CGM has contributed mightily to the current dismal state of man-loving evanjellyfish; no longer content to preach God’s Gospel of repentance and forgiveness of sins in Jesus’ Name.

For you see, the warped and toxic fruit of e.g. PDL Pope Rick Warren and Rob Bell, the original rock star pastor of the neo-liberal cult slithering around in the Emerging Church, is a direct result of a lack of faith in the all-sufficiency of Holy Scripture.

Evangelical leaders had best cease their amazingly accurate impressions of Rip Van Winkle and wake up and smell the spiritual coffee. Know that it is Satan’s plan to act as a huge serpent swallowing up every area of the visible Christian arena.

Don’t kid yourself when you see things like John Piper And Linger Conference With IHOP’s Stephen Venable And His Contemplative Teaching; mainstreaming IHOP will have devastating consequences down the road. Contemplative pietism numbs those who practice it.

Out goes the glorious and majestic, great and mighty, one true and living God of Scripture; and in our generation, in comes the mystic mush god who is leading people into the new postmodern form of liberalism with its repackaged social gospel of good deeds.

And this makes Charles Spurgeon’s words following as true now as when he spoke them about the original liberals:

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. (Galatians 6:7-8, KJV)

And now we delare that the God of Holy Scripture is a God of inflexible justice; He is not the god whom some of you adore. You adore a god who calls your crimes peccadilloes [small mistakes] and little faults.

Some of you worship a god who does not punish sin but who is so weakly merciful, and mercilessly weak, that he passes by transgressions and iniquity and never enacts punishment.

You believe in a god who, if a man sins, does not demand punishment for his offense. You think that a few good works of your own will pacify him, that he is so weak a ruler that a few good words uttered before him in prayer will win sufficient merit to reverse the sentence if indeed you think he ever passes a sentence at all.

Your god is no God; he is as much a false god as the god of the Greeks or of ancient Nineveh. The God of Scripture is One Who is inflexibly severe in justice and will by no means clear the guilty. “The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked” (Nahum 1:3, KJV).

The God of Scripture is a Ruler Who, when His subjects rebel, marks their crime and never forgives them until He has punished it, either upon them or upon their Substitute. ((Charles Spurgeon,At the Master’s Feet [Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 2005], January 20.))
