MEANINGLESS WORDS

“Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one” (Matthew 5:37).
Have you ever been disappointed? Yes, it’s the same old empty promises. Does this sound familiar? “It was only a white lie.” I don’t care if it’s white, black, purple or red; a lie, is a lie, is a lie! If we are grieved when others do not keep their promises, and our hopes are high, then how about the misleading spirit of a lying Christian?
How much more are we disillusioned when a “professing” Christian does not keep his promises? It not only hurts us, but also our Lord God and His precious Holy Spirit Who dwells within us. It is a reflection of our character. Simply let your “yes” be yes, and “no,” no! Don’t use your words falsely.
Psalm 5:6 says – You destroy those who tell lies; bloodthirsty and deceitful men the LORD abhors.
Do you want to be distrusted; or have others thrust their wicked schemes upon you? Remember, we are all accountable. What happens when empty promises become meaningless words? Have you been disappointed today; or have you disappointed someone today?
