STANDING FOR THE TRUTH

1 Peter 3:1-2
Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
I am writing this short Heart To Heart from the perspective of a pastor’s wife. My prayer is that this will touch the hearts of women who are among those of us “contending for the faith,” and standing by the side of their husband.
A wife of a minister is not unlike that of any other wife (THE CALLING IS HIGH). To be a good wife first requires obedience to the Lord’s Word and acting in accord with the true Gospel. I must be honest there are times it can be difficult and stressful, just the same as other women who’s call is to be a wife.
My husband is called as a pastor/teacher and needs time to develop his “Internet pulpit” ministry. If the support was there he could do this on a fulltime basis without also working in a study hall within a school system where there is no respect for him. I would love to be working side by side with him and counseling others too.
It is difficult for me however, because when he gets home from school understandably he needs to then catch up on the work of the ministry, which means it doesn’t always leave as much “time for each other” as I might prefer. Are there any women out there who can relate? Please continue to pray for the support of AM as we here endeavor to stand for the purity of the Gospel, although it is not a popular message.
Let’s unite together in prayer in order that our husbands will be able to do what they are called to do, and maintain a nice balance between the necessary work of serving Christ and being available for us. It is painful in these perilous times when we see our husbands taking flak for “standing for the Truth.” We need to be right next to our husbands with a gentle and supportive spirit.
For those women who have unbelieving spouses, please be of good cheer, courageous and strong. May your behavior and reverence for our Lord come forth as a Light unto your husbands. I will stand and pray with you in the battle, will you pray and stand with me?
