IT LOOKS LIKE THE REAL THING

Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but blessed is he who keeps the law (Proverbs 29:18).
A Sad State Of Affairs
I don’t think anyone with even a modicum of spiritual acumen would deny that the first part of this text is a virtual mirror of twenty-first century postmodern America. Sin blatantly thrown into our faces at every turn. Proud boasters prowling their stages decked out with shiny ornate jewelry and spouting vile blasphemies over loud music to adoring crowds who cheer it wildly. And men and women, I’m not only talking about the Trinity Broadcasting Network either, as you can find this very same kind of “entertainment” in rap venues as well. Hmm, though it does give us pause for thought, does it not?
The current New Downgrade No-Controversy in the ecumenical new Evangelical church is sad indeed. Don’t you see, while influential Evangelicals continue to ignore the onslaught of new Liberalism through the Trojan Horse of the Emergent Church–which is a blatant denial of God’s revelation–and the self-aggrandizing spiritual pride of the Word Faith Movement, people are indeed casting off restraint. And you know what, it is the Lord Himself Who is allowing this to happen. Remember though, it’s not like our Father didn’t give us warning because He did say – grieve not the Holy Spirit of God (Ephesians 4:30, KJV).
I‘m regularly asked: “Why do you criticize people like Joel Osteen and Rick Warren; they are only trying to portray God in a positive light.” And then they’ll go on to say: “You’re just jealous of all the people they are reaching because what you are preaching only turns people off and you’re not reaching anyone.” Can you see the flaw here? I don’t reach anybody…they are reaching thousands. Men and women the truth is none of us can convert anybody to Christ no matter what we do or how much we promise them. We have little revelation of God today because the seeker sensitive pragmatism of casual Christianity Lite will never be blessed by the LORD God Almighty of the Bible, and hence it is powerless to save.
All we are witnessing right now is a prophetic fulfillment of:
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Matthew 7:21-23, KJV)
It Looks Like The Real Thing
Today I appeal to you to awaken from this narcissistic nightmare being falsely portrayed as Christianity in Christ’s Name. If you have been taken in by these deceiving man-pleasers holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; now you need to avoid such men as these (2 Timothy 3:5, NASB). Man, I beseech you to pick up the Bible and check these things out for yourself. I tell in the Lord that time is running out and you are playing a game with your life that has eternal stakes.
In Christ I admonish you to forget that convoluted conversation within the Emergent Church; turn away from those sinner sensitive Purpose Driven musings, and run from the prideful prophets of Word Faith before you end up right back in the bondage of the apostate Church of Rome along with all the rest of them. Do you really think the Protestant Reformation was wrong; because this is what you are being asked to believe in order to follow these fools.
Let me close with the words of a great preacher of God’s Word just after the turn of the last century, Dr. R.A. Torrey, who was a protégé of evangelist D.L. Moody. These prophetic words speak ever so loudly to this brash generation today. Dr. Torrey said:
There is no fear of God before their eyes. And the rejection of Jesus Christ – God the Son – Whom God the Father has appointed to be our Savior, our King, and our Lord, is the most daring and damning of all sins. There is nothing in this world that reveals what is in the human heart so clearly as what a man does with the real Lord and Christ. The rejection of Jesus Christ certainly proves a wicked heart. Hear this O sinner, the great question on the Judgment Day will be: “What did you do with Jesus Christ?”
Oh yes, I can imagine some people on that day. That man who sits in yonder gallery trying to make light of what I am saying tonight, he will be there. I can see him standing before the Judgment Bar. The throng will fall back, there will be a profound silence. Then comes rolling forth like the sound of mighty rushing waters the majestic Voice of the awesome and dreadful Judge: “You man, what did you do with Jesus Christ!” Who is to be the Judge that day? None other than Jesus Christ Himself.
The Lord Christ Jesus Whom you are rejecting is to be that Judge. This same Jesus Christ of Nazareth Whom you are robbing of the honor which is His due will be that Judge. That same Christ Who’s Divinity you are denying. And not that you have any real reason to deny it, but simply in your proud and arrogant heart you want to deny it. And you want to comfort yourself in your sin. That same Christ Whom you are trampling underfoot will sit as Judge that day.
That will be a very dark day for some. I can imagine that man or woman in this audience tonight who’s been telling their friends they do not believe that Jesus is God, and who’s been trampling the God the Son underfoot, and who have been resisting the invitations of mercy, maybe even for years now, you will stand before that Throne. And this same Christ Whom you have defamed and slandered, mocked and rejected, lied about and trampled underfoot, will be sitting as your Judge.
Friend, will you come to Him now while He sits upon the Throne of mercy? I beseech you, come to Him today while the question still is: “What will you do with Jesus Christ?” Because, O sinner, if you will not have mercy, then you need to know that you shall be judged by God’s perfect Law; and I assure you in the Lord, His justice will be done.
For it is written:
If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sin is left, but only a fearful judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the Law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the Covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of Grace? For we know Him Who said, ”It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge His people.” It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God(Heb. 10:26-31).
He who has ears to hear, let him hear what the Spirit says…and obey Him…
