The Emergent Church Is Not A Move Of God

Let me point out in this latest piece here at Apprising Ministries that a reader’s comment at the old Slice of Laodicea, now Christian Research Net, a while back brings out the key issue behind the horrid slide into apostasy of the evangelical camp itself and of the more squalid new evangelicalism born in apostasy further into the light. This valued reader correctly stated:

As an Ex-Catholic now Christian, I know for a fact, Emergent Church is basically repackaged Catholicism. The “Ancient” church nonsense they speak of is the early deceptions that Roman Catholicism was born out of. Sacraments, candles, labyrinths…

As an example of this Reformation-reversing Emergent Church movement, here is supposedly SBC “Protestant” evangelical pastor…oops, sorry…aka “cultural architect” Erwin McManus from his book The Barbarian Way:

Just a few months after becoming a follower of Jesus Christ, I found myself back at college, but on an entirely new mission. I didn’t know a whole lot about Christianity, so I went to everything that looked as if it was associated with the faith. I went to Catholic Mass, to a Baptist church, to a charismatic fellowship, to an interdenominational Bible study, and I worked on a project with the Church of Christ. I pretty much covered the entire spectrum of the Christian faith (72).

It truly is as I posed in my article Words of Encouragement: Three Men of God Expose the Rotten Root of the “Postmodern” Emergent Church, and yes I know it’s not fluff but I encourage you to read it. This article is important because it shows you through the writings of Charles Spurgeon, A.W. Tozer and Oswald Chambers, all men used mightily of God, the root of today’s neo-liberal cult of the Emergent Church is nothing more than people refusing to go to the Cross that Christ may kill their selfish human nature.

The warnings came long before the centered on the self new evangelicalism with it’s Contemplative Spirituality borrowed from the apostate Church of Rome spawned apostates like Guru Brian McLaren and Rob Bell. Today I tell you in the Lord that you need to know these deceptions ravaging the American Christian Church have come because each of us is going to have to answer the critical question Christ Himself has put before His Church:

“Was the Reformation of God or was it of man?”
