This post originally ran on Christian Research Net but with an upcoming appearance on The Mike Corley Program tomorrow I feel led to publish this more in-depth version here at Apprising Ministries. The following is presented as further indication of what I also covered in a previous article about the hyped up human potential teachings of “cultural architect” and “distinguished futurist” Erwin Raphael McManus.

Thus says the LORD of hosts, “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who are prophesying to you, They are leading you into futility; They speak a vision of their own imagination, Not from the mouth of the LORD. They keep saying to those who despise Me,” The LORD has said, ‘You will have peace’; And as for everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart, They say, ‘Calamity will not come upon you.’ But who has stood in the council of the LORD, That he should see and hear His word? Who has given heed to His word and listened?”

“Behold, the storm of the LORD has gone forth in wrath, Even a whirling tempest; It will swirl down on the head of the wicked. The anger of the LORD will not turn back, Until He has performed and carried out the purposes of His heart; In the last days you will clearly understand it. I did not send these prophets, But they ran. I did not speak to them, But they prophesied. But if they had stood in My council, Then they would have announced My words to My people, And would have turned them back from their evil way, And from the evil of their deeds. The “Look At Me” Ministry In The Mosaic Of McManus

As a quick aside; there are those who feel by constantly using those descriptors (gleaned from McManus himself) e.g. “cultural architect” that I am mocking him. We must be very careful here so please read my keyboard: Yes, yes, absolutely I am mocking him. As it is written:

The LORD’s curse is on the house of the wicked, but He blesses the home of the righteous. He mocks proud mockers but gives grace to the humble. The wise inherit honor, but fools He holds up to shame. (Proverbs 3:33-35)

And if my writing style concerning arrogant Emergent false futurists like Erwin McManus still bothers you I refer you to the uplifting “story” of Elijah with the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel (see–1 Kings 16:16-40). To borrow from Dr. Walter Martin, “So you’re argument is with the Lord. When you win that come back and see me.” Now in Southern Baptist Pastor or Human Potential Advocate I show that there is no difference between what Lou Tice of The Pacific Institute teaches and what McManus himself teaches.

The fact is that it’s just more man-centered love of self which is now so popular in the Southern Baptist Convention it-self; or as the president of the SBC Dr. Frank Page called it recently, “a Jesus Convention.” Right, Dr. Page. Though in fairness this rapidly apostatizing denomination is hardly alone in the loquacious love-fest of mankind within the $Idol of Evangelicalism$. That foolishness aside and with all of this in mind, here is the link to the February 19 newsletter from “America’s Energy Coach” Jon Gordon author of The Energy Bus (EB) which has a foreword from the SBC favorite Ken Blanchard.

O, by the way one of the other sterling endorsements for the EB comes from “Las Vegas Entertainer of the Year” Danny Gans. Yes I know, prepare to be mightily impressed because this is very heady stuff here indeed. Zowie! The best entertainer in Sin City; why, who wouldn’t want his endorsement? Gans says of the Positive Energy “pastor”:

The world would be a much better place if we all focused on being positive. Jon is the “Pastor of Positive Energy” and I’m one of his believers.” (Online source)

You will see in a moment so is cultural architect McManus. Apparently this Positive Energy deal of the EB is the preferred ride of our fabulous future. Gordon’s February 19 newsletter is entitled “The Secret behind ‘The Secret’,” which you’ll see is a quote from Gordon’s friend and distinguished Mosaic futurist Erwin McManus.

Gordon tells the reader, “Many of you have probably heard of or seen The Secret. It’s a DVD movie that explains the law of attraction and low to use it to manifest the things you want in your life.” (emphasis mine) O, but it gets even worse as he then says:

The law of attraction is important to share and it’s a big part of my new book, “The Energy Bus,” which tells the story of a man who uses the law of attraction to help turn around the negativity, fear, adversity, and challenges in his life. In understanding the law of attraction many are now realizing that they are involved in the creation of their lives; that their energetic thoughts, beliefs and actions have an impact on the world and in imprint on the energy fabric of the universe. (emphasis mine)

The Emerging Repainted Gnosticism In The Glorious Global Future Of The New Age

The above is more pedantic pabulum of the New Age, which is itself the “mind over matter” of the reimagined first century Gnosticism that particularly infects the Word Faith camp of the Devil’s Ecumenical Church of Deceit. However, this spiritual cancer is now metastasizing throughout the entire evangelical community carried as it is by the Emergent Church within their rotten core doctrine of contemplative mysticism foundational to this malignant cult of new liberal theology.

So we already know that Ken Blanchard endorses this dead wrong drivel vomited upon the spiritually naive by the Pastor of Positive Energy Jon Gordon. But as you’ll see in my Human Potential article referenced above, the soul craving barbarian “gospel” that Erwin McManus preaches goes right along with the mutant message of Lou Tice, as well as with this particular New Age psycho-babble of his friend Jon Gordon aka the “Energy Coach.”

Man alive, don’t you just love all the nifty titles these guys have!? As Positive Energy Pastor Gordon preaches, the greatness [read: man-centeredness] of the alleged human potential comes emerging when you learn to “experience the amazing power of Positive Energy in your life and career.” Yep, sounds remarkably like Norman Vincent Peale and Robert Schuller and Rick Warren and Joel Osteen and Erwin McManus and…um, excuse me while I get sick.

Now some will protest: “But Gordon mentions ‘God’.” Yes that’s right, he does:

While having dinner the other night with Erwin McManus, author of “Soul Cravings” and a person who has had a profound impact on my life, we discussed The Secret and Erwin made a great point that we need to explain there is a secret behind The Secret.

God gave us free will and the power to choose. In choosing to have faith and believing in a brighter and better future, cultivating a grateful and appreciative heart, and practicing forgiveness we open ourselves up to amazing possibilities. We become a vessel God can use to mold into the people we were born to be… who share the love we were meant to share.

We are co-creators of our life with God. We are both creating and being created at the same time. The universe is not some magic genie that’s says, “Your wish is my command,” bringing you any car, house, or amount of money you desire. The Secret does not exist to satisfy your every wish but to help us become the kind of people God can use to make His ultimate wish come true – Heaven on Earth and inside each one of us. Men and women, as one the Lord has made study the meandering and mystic musings of McManus; I can tell you this heavily Gnostic and twisted Arminianism is exactly what our fabulous futurist espouses. But the absolute Truth is that the “god” of McManus is an emerging idol because what you just read has about as much to do with the genuine Gospel of Jesus Christ as I do with Rob Bell. Little chance the rabbi-wannabe and I will be having dinner anytime soon.

No, here is what the LORD God Almighty of the Bible says about the man-pleasing message and manipulative methodologies of Emergent dreamers like Erwin McManus in the wake of his Mosaic of Pain. This Emergent rebellion against the doctrines of grace and the Word of God will only point you straight to the gate that opens onto the broad road which leads to destruction.

And the ignored tragedy of our time is that so many are now emerging to find it…
