TONY JONES: MY NIGHT WITH A ROCK STAR
By Ken Silva pastor-teacher on Aug 7, 2007 in Current Issues, Emergent Church
When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.
(1 Corinthians 13:11, NASB)
A Glimpse Behind The Carnal Curtain Of Emerging Church
Apprising Ministries brings you the link to a post by Tony Jones, anti-theologian in the neo-liberal cult of the Emergent Church, from his blog placed up a couple of weeks ago:
Last Monday night, I spent the evening with Zach Lind, drummer in the band, Jimmy Eat World [see below]. They’re on a tour in advance of their next album, which is due out sometime in September. I showed up for their sound check, then I took him over to Solomon’s Porch and gave him a couple of books.
This post is a good little peek into the pseudo-Christian world of the emerging church that your $evangelical$ leaders are sacrificing your kids to. By the way, Zachary Lind is a good friend of the Elvis of Emergent Rob Bell. You can read some excerpts from Bell’s “appearance” on Lind’s podcast in Rob Bell in a Nutshell: Contemplative Mysticism.
There Bell recommends the contemplative spirituality that flowered in the antibiblical monastic traditions of apostate Roman Catholicism. Bell also encouraged Lind to read a book by one of those looney Living Spiritual Teachers and Roman Catholic priest “Father” Richard Rohr.
Think there’s no connection between mysticism, Rohr and the emerging church? Think again friend. Rohr and another contemplative mystic dreamer Brennan Manning are keynote speakers for the upcoming Soularize “festival” in the Bahamas put on by "Christian Universalist" and panentheist Spencer Burke and his emerging Ooze.
