ECUMENICISM, ATTACK DOGS AND CURIOUS CATS IN THE EMERGING CHURCH
By Ken Silva pastor-teacher on Aug 29, 2007 in Current Issues, Emergent Church
Over at his Tall Skinny Kiwi blog Andrew Jones, a very well-known figure in the emerging church, has shared his views on David Aikman’s article in Christianity Today where he refers to Apprising Ministries as a self-appointed attack dog. It is as I said in his comments section, “Hi Andrew, Indeed we do disagree on much but, as far as I know, you and I have always done so agreeably.”
Jones’ thoughts here are interesting and edifying for one seriously trying to understand how the emerging church views the issues of ecumenicism and what I refer to as apostate Roman Catholicism. And even though Andrew and I are on opposite sides right now I appreciate his kind words here:
I don’t believe Ken is the nastiest or the meanest. In fact, we have exchanged emails on occasion and I find him quite approachable and accountable. If he is critical that the emerging church re-appraises Reformation assumptions then he is correct.
