ROB BELL: MEET YOUR SPIRITUAL FATHER

But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self. (2 Timothy 3:1-2, NASB)

The new evangelical belief in a universal nature of the atonement, where all men are already forgiven, has been around even before Brian McLaren and the neo-liberal cult of the Emergent Church. As I clearly show in Rob Bell Says “All-ee In Free…Almost” this is more than hinted at by Rob Bell in his book Velvet Elvis.

In the video clip below Robert Schuller says to his close friend Billy Graham, “Tell me, what do you think is the future of Christianity.” Graham then explains his position:

I think everybody that loves Christ or knows Christ—whether they’re conscious of it or not—they’re members of the Body of Christ. And that’s what God is doing today, He’s calling people out of the world for His name, whether they come from the Muslim world, or the Buddhist world, or the Christian world or the non-believing world, they are members of the Body of Christ because they’ve been called by God.

They may not even know the name of Jesus but they know in their hearts that they need something that they don’t have, and they turn to the only light that they have, and I think that they are saved, and that they’re going to be with us in heaven.

Really? One can believe in Someone that they have never heard of and even when they aren’t aware that they know them? Is this actually taught in the Bible? Answer: No.

But Billy Graham does reveal where this eternally false idea, in very fact, comes from—the self: “I think they are saved.”
