WHAT’S THE BIGGEST RELIGIOUS STORY OF 2007?

From Apprising Ministries outreach Christian Research Net, which reminds AM readers as well that, when we link to a site, article, etc., it does not necessarily mean CRN or AM endorses—either fully or at all—what appears there. That said, there is an interesting discussion going on at The Change Revolution of Phil Cooke; most specifically in our mind, as it concerns comments made by Joel Osteen that Mitt Romney and other Mormons are genuine Christians. See: Joel Osteen: Mitt Romney and Mormons are Christians.
It’s really beginning to look as if evangelicals actually don’t see the serious decline in the American Christian Church. Let us try and help focus this issue; the advancement of the actual Gospel of Jesus Christ is in serious jeopardy when the pastor of one of the largest evangelical churches in the country announces that people who are practicing Mormons are already Christians.
This would mean that millions of people lost in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—long recognized as a non-Christian cult—will end up not ever being evangelized. For if Mormons are genuine Christians, which is what Joel Osteen has clearly said, then there would no need to preach the Gospel to them. And like it or not Osteen is now a leader within apostatizing evangelicalism.
And so we ask the critical question: Where is the outrage, when in his gross ignorance of this subject, Joel Osteen has just told millions who follow him to accept non-Christians as genuine believers? Seriously; can this apostasy really be so deep, and the spiritual blindness actually be so wide? Joel Osteen, supposedly a pastor-teacher sent by Jesus Christ, obviously hasn’t made the time to study Who is own Lord actually is and yet evangelical leaders continue to say nothing.
