FOCUS ON THE FAMILY PROMOTES THE NEW EVANGELIZATION OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH
By Ken Silva pastor-teacher on Dec 12, 2008 in AM Missives, Current Issues
Earlier Apprising Ministries brought you another example of a “Protestant” evangelical organization embracing apostate antibiblical Roman Catholicism as a valid expression of the Christian faith. In Focus on the Family Says it’s “Un-Christlike” to Consider the Roman Catholic Church Apostate we showed you Focus on the Family literally saying that someone like myself who would say the Roman Catholic is just as apostate now as when its Council of Trent condemned the Gospel of Jesus Christ is “uncharitable and un-Christlike” as well as “harmful ” to the richness” of our “Christian experience.”
Following that post I received the following concerning Focus on the Family and its CitizenLink 5-23-08 Friday Five: Christopher West with “Managing Editor” Jennifer Mesko:
Christopher West has taken his message of biblical sexuality to four continents, nine countries and 150 U.S. cities. He is a research fellow and faculty member of the Theology of the Body Institute. He recently visited Focus on the Family and took a few minutes to talk with CitizenLink.
1. What is the Theology of the Body?
Theology of the Body is a collection of 129 talks by the late John Paul II. It’s a thoroughly biblical reflection — over 1,000 verses of Scripture — to give us the biblical vision of our creation as male and female. Why did God create us as male and female? Why does He call the two to be one flesh? What is God’s plan for marriage? It’s not just for married people. If you have a body, this theology applies to you. (Online source)
What this has in connection with the AM article referenced above is that Christopher West is a Roman Catholic and:
a research fellow and faculty member of the Theology of the Body Institute. He is also one of the most sought after speakers in the Church today, having delivered more than 1000 public lectures on 4 continents, in 9 countries, and in over 150 American cities. (Online source)
Only “the Church” mentioned above in not the Body of Christ; it refers to the Roman Catholic Church. This becomes obvious from the picture of West with phony Vicar of Christ John Paul II on the pages at his personal website and the following ringing endorsement from Roman Catholic “Bishop of Harrisburg” Kevin C. Rhodes:
“I am familiar with the excellent work Christopher West has done and continues to do promoting Catholic teaching on life and love, especially as given to us by Pope John Paul II in his “theology of the body.” I am grateful to count him among the faithful of the Diocese of Harrisburg and to encourage one and all to listen with an open heart to the message of hope he brings.” (Online source, emphasis mine)
And that West is a shill for the false teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and specifically JPII is evident from his endorsements:
Christopher West’s keen grasp of John Paul II’s theology of the body and his ability to make it accessible to others is changing lives, strengthening marriages, and renewing people’s faith in the Church across the country and internationally. He is on the front lines of the new evangelization and his message should be heard by all.

This is the necessary background one needs to more fully understand why this AM Reader, faithful to the genuine Gospel of Jesus Christ, was moved to write FoF. It is reprehensible that they didn’t even bother to respond but now we know why. The fact is that FoF is just another in a growing number of pretending to be Protestant ministry willing to compromise the Biblical purity of the historic orthodox Christian faith in order for a false unity before man.
The following is published with permission:
Ken,
I saw your post today regarding FOF and the RCC. I had written the following email to them in May after receving a e-newsletter that promoted Christopher West and a picture of the Cathlic cross with Jesus still on it.
I did not receive a response.
Here it is below.

Subject: Lending credibility to the former Popes teachingsDr Dobson and Staff,
I rarely take the time to write like this but I must in this case after receiving today’s Citizenlink update. Why use the teachings of the former leader of an apostate denomination (Catholic Pope) as Christopher West does and promote it through your ministry (see excerpt below)? Your web site states that your “primary reason for existence is to spread the Gospel of
Jesus Christ…”Lending credibility to the former Popes teachings on the family also lends credit to the false gospel proclaimed in the Catholic teachings. If truth can come from anywhere then why not also use the family friendly teachings of other false gospel leaders such as the LDS church prophet? Please do not promote or lend implied credibility to “works” based gospels that are no gospel at all through featuring their teaching on other topics that may be sound. Most people will think that if we can trust the Pope to use the Bible accurately to teach how to make my marriage better then I should also be able to trust the Pope to accurately use the Bible to proclaim gospel of salvation and how to be saved. Sadly that is a false conclusion and your decision has contributed to some who will stubble. I appreciate your consideration and prayer on this matter.
Sincerely,
AM Reader
