The Kansas City Star tells us, in this story, that “Former President Jimmy Carter” is trying to lead unsuspecting Baptists “in search” of compromised Christianity oops, make that “common ground”:

He’s coming to Kansas City next week to push forward his efforts to unify Baptists, who tenaciously hold to both their faith and their freedom… “We are not trying to start a new denomination,” Carter said in a phone interview. “We are trying to bring together traditional Baptists, no matter what our backgrounds”… (Online source)
