Hello there,
I ran across this site while investigating the Emergent church and have found your posts very helpful. I had a quick question – if one is gay, a Christian, and celibate/single, are they “all right”?
Thanks!
AM Reader
Hello AM Reader,
Below you ask: “if one is gay, a Christian, and celibate/single, are they ‘all right’?” I’m not exactly sure what you mean by “all right,” but keeping that in mind, I would say this: One cannot even become a Christian unless they are regenerated by God the Holy Spirit, believe Jesus Christ is Lord, and repent of their sin.
Those who are born again do not make sexual sin a fixture of their lifestyle, regardless of what type; whether it be e.g. sexual immorality, or adultery, or sexual immorality with a member of the same sex, i.e. homosexuality. All unmarried people are to refrain from sexual immorality, and therefore, should be “celibate/single.” Make sense.
For Christ’s honor I labor,
Pastor Ken Silva
