Apprising Ministries has shown you in Emerging Church: “Gay Affirming Pastor” Jay Bakker On A Mission From God where Bakker tells us of a personal li’l chat with the LORD God Almighty Who apparently has confided in “pastor” Jay that He’s now changed His mind about the practice of homosexuality:

“The more I follow grace, the more I’m drawn to him [God], the more I’m willing to stand up for people being persecuted,” said Bakker. “It sounds so churchy, but I felt like God spoke to my heart and said ‘[homosexuality] is not a sin.’ ” (Online source, emphasis mine)

As a pastor myself, I implore you of behalf of Jesus Christ not to fall for foolish talk like the above from Jay Bakker. Now let’s be clear, I’m not going to say that he didn’t hear from the seducing spirits behind the mythical mush god with the man-shaped hole in its heart; but I can tell you with absolute certainty that Bakker did not hear from the one true and living God of the Bible.

Bakker, pastor of Revolution Church—where they want us to know they’re “sorry for being self-righteous judgmental bastards”—ought to know that Jesus has already told us, and in no uncertain terms, what His view of sexual immorality with a member of the same sex i.e. homosexuality is:

You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination. (Leviticus 18:22, NASB)

If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them. (Leviticus 20:13, NASB)

For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. (Romans 1:25-27, NASB)

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NASB)

Sadly, there are many today who apparently don’t know that 1) all Scripture is spoken by God; 2) Jesus is God, therefore 3) what God says in Scripture, Jesus says. Now that’s what is truly sad. Yet today Jay Bakker has opined:

When your doctrine becomes more important than loving and showing compassion to others, I think there is a problem… (Online source)

Well, what do you know; here, I heartily agree with Bakker. Yes, when your quasi-universal doctrine of the all-inclusive Emerging Church aka Emergent Church, now morphing into Emergence Christianity, becomes more important than loving and showing compassion to others by caring enough for your neighbor to tell them the Truth, I think there’s is a huge problem of eternal consequence.

And so I ask: Does Jay Bakker really love the gay people he purports to affirm?
