PETER ROLLINS AND IKON SINGING "SEEDS OF DOUBT"

So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of My mouth. (Revelation 3:16)
Emergence Planting Seeds Of Doubt; But Even So, They Are Sure That You’re Wrong
Apprising Ministries let you know in Rob Bell, Peter Rollins And Phyllis Tickle Together Advancing Emergence Christianity that Emergent Church icon Rob Bell is pretty excited about the upcoming pastor’s conference called Poets Prophets Preachers: Reclaiming The Art Of The Sermon, which he’s holding this July. In Conversation with Rob Bell he wants to make sure that we know that Peter Rollins, whom Bell says is “a friend of mine,” is going to “be with me” for this event.
Now Emerging Church “pastor” Nadia Boltz-Weber is someone that Tony Jones and his pastor Doug Pagitt feel is one of the “most important voices for the future of Christianity.” Like Bell as well, Boltz-Weber, who blogs as Sarcastic Lutheran, also has high regard for Rollins. In fact, under “books and magazines I dig” Bolz-Weber lists “pastor” Rollins’ book How (Not) to Speak of God (HNS) and then says of Rollins, “Pete is an emerging church pastor of the Ikon community in Belfast, Ireland. I can’t recommend this book enough.”
I’ve also pointed out in Peter Rollins Darling Of Emergence Christianity that Rollins is indeed a rising star within the Emergent Church garnering gushing praise from Guru Brian McLaren himself, who did the foreword to Rollins’ aforementioned book HNS. An adept ear-scratcher, Rollins even elicited this following from the Empress of Emergence Phyllis Tickle:
Here in pregnant bud is the rose, the emerging new configuration, of a Christianity that is neither Roman nor Protestant, neither Eastern nor monastic; but rather is the re-formation of all of them. Here, in pregnant bud, is third-millennium Christendom.
And now the other day at his website Rollins wanted:
to let you know that The Christian Centurythis month features an interview with myself about ikon and my work. The interview was done in a fantastic little coffee shop in the heart of Chicago by the lovely Amy Frykholm. The interview itself lasted about an hour, so what you get in the magazine is a stripped down version. It is great to be featured on the front page. Next year… TIME! (Online source)
He’s referring to an article in the liberal publication Christian Century (CC) called Seeds of Doubt: Ikon’s Peter Rollins, which Rollins tells us actually edited out the more crazy and interesting stuff, leaving me sounding pretty boring. That aside, and although he may not have realized it, Rollins does quite candidly reveal what his fickle faith “of doubt” is really all about:
On two projectors we showed the Apostles’ Creed via computer, and people could go up and put in the creed what they wanted to and take out what they wanted to. The computer document was created in Microsoft Word, with the tracked changes displayed so you could see all the alterations that people had made… We try to disrupt people’s understanding of Christianity and get them to think differently…
We have a group called the Evangelism Project that goes out to be evangelized. We visit other religious traditions, both within Christianity and outside Christianity—Buddhism, humanism, Jewish traditions, Scientology. We go to listen and learn and to be transformed. (Online source)
But oddly enough, for these dabblers of doubt, when it suits their inclusive purposes there are some things of which they suddenly become sure. As you can see for yourself in Rob Bell, Peter Rollins, And Queermergent’s Adele Sakler, there isn’t any doubt in the mind of Emergence as to what they tell us is also an acceptable lifestyle for the Christian. Rollins (seen below w/McLaren), as well as others in what’s now becoming known as Emergence Christianity, are ushering through the door of the church and into evangelicalism itself those who are openly committing homosexual sin.
If You Do Truly Love Someone Then You Will Also Tell Them The Truth
For those who may not know, Adele Sakler happens to be a practicing lesbian “Christ-follower” who’s heading up the Emergent Church group Queermergent, she’s co-leader of Richmond Emergent Cohort, and a budding LGBTQ activist as well. However, the following is certainly among some of the saddest things I have personally read lately. Sadly, Sakler tells us:
In 1997 I moved to Los Angeles and began living a double life as a Christian and as a gay woman. I began to read Brian McLaren and found him writing things I had felt inside but was very afraid to express outwardly to anyone.
In 2002 I went to Northern Ireland to do a DTS with YWAM. I met the great Peter Rollins and we developed a great friendship. His teachings and writings on postmodernism and Christianity radically shaped how I viewed my faith. I could no longer hang onto certainty with regards to interpreting scripture. (Online source, emphasis mine)
Then over at the Queermergent website Rollins, who is even a friend of Sakler’s tells says to her:

Adele…I love your passion and courage. You never sit back and think, ‘what if’, you get up and makes things happen. Know that you have lots of support and respect and people covering your back. (Online source)
To which she responds:

Pete,
Thank you! That means so much coming from you! i really appreciate your love and support. You were a HUGE part of my coming to terms with my sexuality and reconciling it with G-D. i am forever indebted to you, my dear friend. THANK YOU!

And so as it concerns people who don’t love GLBTQ people enough to stop lying to them in God’s name, I will ask again: Why No Condemnation For Christians Who Are Homopressive? My best advice for anyone following these spiritually puerile pied pipers of postmodern and postliberal theology is to do yourself a favor; split from Peter Rollins and the Seeds of Doubt before Jesus ups and spits them out…
