GAY MARRIAGE IS SIMPLY A BAD IDEA

As the egregiously ecumenical Emerging Church aka Emergent Church, now morphing into Emergence Christianity (EC), prepares to fire it’s opening salvo openly affirming homosexuality—from within the walls of mainstream evangelicalism itself—it’ll be interesting to see how long “senior managing editor” of Christianity Today Mark Galli, and CT itself, will be maintaining their stance articulated in the article “The Gay Marriage Juggernaut” and featured in the current July 2009 edition:
This does not mean we should stop fighting initiatives that would legalize gay marriage. Gay marriage is simply a bad idea, whether one is religious or not. But it is bad not only because of what it will do to the social fabric, but because of what it signals has already happened to our social fabric. We are a culture of radical individualists, and gay marriage does nothing but put an exclamation point on that fact. We should fight it, because it will only make a bad situation worse. (33)
Oddly enough, the very Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism now promoted by CT, and as evidenced by Disciplines To Deception In Southern Baptist Convention, is being embraced by more and more mainstream evangelicals—even in Reformed circles—as a replacement for God-centered spirituality, is just as centered-on-the-self-as it gets…
