THE NEW CHRISTIANS WITH CHRISTIANITY WORTH BELIEVING—YOGA
By Ken Silva pastor-teacher on Jul 22, 2009 in Current Issues, Emergence Christianity, Emergent Church
Apprising Ministries told you in The New Christians With Christianity Worth Believing—No Sola Scriptura: Yes, Women Pastors And Queer Christians that leading Emerging Church aka Emergent Church—morphing into Emergence Christianity (EC)—spokesman Tony Jones has written a book called The New Christians and his pastor Doug Pagitt has one called A Christianity Worth Believing.
Then in Christianity 21: Emerging Voices Of A Pseudo-Christian Faith AM showed that the dubious duo of Jones and Pagitt are teaming up to foist upon the visible church something they’re calling Christianity 21. There at C21 these “new Christians” with their pseudo-Christian faith tradition “worth believing” will feature 21 “Voices” who’ll supposedly be revealing “the way the Christianity will be changing in coming days.”
One of these is “queer inclusive pastor” Nadia Bolz-Weber, formerly “a professional f**k-up”, who’ll enlighten us concerning “Authority; Authenticity and A**holes.” Not long ago she wanted us to know she was excited because:
Christianity21 adds Spiritual Directors, Natural Health Coaches and Yoga. This events gets better by the day. (Online source)
Now the ever resourceful Tony Jones, using the uber easy method of Twitter, appears to have set up his Yoga instructor:
@jenyoga Are you talking about #C21? You wanna lead a yoga session there? It might be good for business… (Online source)
We assume that Jones means good for the “business“ of jenyoga, who happens to be Jennifer Colletti, the Yoga instructor of JenYoga. Of course Colletti’s excited by this publicity/opportunity so she offers to come teach stuff like:
is all 3rd eye chakra’d (Online source)
close your eyes, bring your gaze to your third eye center (the spot right in between your ibrows, and up), breathe in, breath out x6 (Online source)
Say goodbye; Christianity has just left the building. Jones then tells her a new website for this upcoming C 21 EC gathering is about to go online:
@jenyoga Okay. The new site is going live tomorrow. I’ll send you the link. (Online source)
Colletti, who describes herself as “a passionate yoga teacher, designer and Mommy,” would have us know the Vinyasa Yoga she teaches “is a form of flow yoga, derived from Ashtanga yoga, whose founder was Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.” Sigh Yoga and Boutique in Minneapolis informs us that Colletti:
started her personal yoga journey more than 10 years ago, embracing the practice at times and drifting from it at others, as she made her way through a career as a fashion designer. Through years of extensive travel and intensive work, she found her way back to yoga time and again.
She opened a boutique with a long time friend, started her own interior styling business www.filigreedesign.net, and went after a dream she’d had for many years, becoming a yoga instructor. She found a sense of belonging and solace in the yoga community.
Jennifer completed the Corepower Vinyasa teacher training program in 2005. She also studied with Rolf Gates, Cameron Shane, Seane Corn, Dave Farmar and Brenda Strong in Strong Yoga 4 Fertility. She is trained in Vinyasa, Hot, Fertility, Prenatal, Postnatal, Infant and Childrens yoga. (Online source)
Having begun as a corporate designer Colletti’s bio informs us she needed a bit of change and followed her inner power of belief:
So I left. I left corporate life after 15 years. Some days it’s still just a little scary, even though I know that this is exactly where I want to be. And so, my freelance career began, I’d had a vision for a long time, I just kept telling myself, I wanted to do design work, teach yoga, and have something of my own. It came to be. The power of suggestion, the power of belief! (Online source)
Such are the new “Christians” and their faith worth believing; proper doctrine is eschewed in favor of the humpty-dumpty decontruction of religious philosophies, which are then later put back together in an existential fashion, in whatever way they happen to choose to place them. Welcome to your new nightmare as these white-washed tombs further infiltrate your evangelical youth groups.
