WHAT SO-CALLED OUTLAW PREACHERS JUST DON’T GET
By Ken Silva pastor-teacher on Aug 5, 2009 in Current Issues, Jay Bakker
To give discerning Apprising Ministries readers a better understanding of what these self-described Outlaw Preachers don’t understand, we now give you a comment on Twitter aka a Tweet from a “gay affirming pastor” by the name of Connie Waters:
Abundant Grace from God to all God’s Children through the Love of Christ Jesus and Assurance of the Holy Spirit to ALL (Online source)
This is the eternally deadly problem with telling unregenerate GLBTQ people—for whom Christ died—that having sexual relations with another of the same sex i.e. homosexuality is also a viable lifestyle for the Christian; and further, that even while practicing such God condones it and the above applies to them. It is a lie from the very pit of a place of consciou literal torment Jesus Himself called Hell.
Scripture is crystal clear that not all human beings are “God’s children.” First this from the inspired Apostle John — But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12, NASB). Simple logic tells us that if you have to become something, then it’s quite obvious you were not that thing before.
And then God the Holy Spirit also told us in no uncertain terms:
You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” Romans 8:9-15, ESV)
If you can’t see there’s a condition there; perhaps it’s because you are one in whom the Spirit of Christ does not dwell, in other words, you’re not His. Today Outlaw Preacher Khad Young, whom I mentioned in Turning God’s Grace Into An Idol, Tweets:
Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. (Romans 13:10) #outlawpreachers (via @rejectministry)
Well, I’m not certainly not about to argue with the Word of God; rightly interpreted, however. Jesus is pretty clear telling us that our neighbor is our fellow man. So, in keeping with His teachings, we are to love our fellow man just as we would love ourselves; this no one disagrees with, of course.
But what those who are stressing the grace of God at the expense of His justice and affirming GLTBQ people, and not warning them of the consequences of their sin, don’t get is this. They are doing their GLBTQ neighbor an eternal harm by allowing them to think that they—or any other unregenerate neighbors unrepentant of sin—are in the Kingdom of God:
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, NASB)
This is what is at stake; and as I’ve said before, The Tolerant Ones Really Aren’t So Tolerant. But I love my Outlaw Preacher and GLBTQ neighbors enough not to harm them, and so, in the short time I may have left I will continue to tell them the truth.
