APPRISING MINISTRIES CONFUSES EMERGENT VILLAGE

Seriously; although it is kind of amusing as Emergent Village (EV) repeats a Tweet from Existential Punk aka practicing lesbian “Christ-follower” Adele Sakler:
RT @ExistentialPunk Ken Silva thinks b/c i endorse legalizing pot that Emergent will want to do so as well. http://snurl.com/pjkv7 /// huh. (Online source)
That link above brings us to a Christian Research Net post entitled For The Love Of God & Country, Legalize Weed!, which says:
Of course this isn’t the position of CRN; rather, this-ah, unusual sentiment is expressed in this post by practicing lesbian “Christ-follower” Adele Sakler aka Existential Punk.
For those who don’t know, Sakler is also co-leader of the Richmond Emergent Cohort, aligned with Emergent Village, and also heads up the Emerging Church group Queermergent.
As has been brought up in The New Evangelicalism And Its Bohemian-Style Emergent Church, because of its penchant for adapting practices of a given culture, it’s only a matter of time before the EC also adds smoking pot among their acceptable practices in the life of Christ-followers as well.
It looks to me to be a semi-satirical piece; although frankly, with the notoriously amorphous and uber-inclusive EC one never really knows what they’d be associated with. I mean, who would have thought that EC leaders like Tony Jones, former national co-ordinator of EV, would openly affirm that a viable lifestyle for the Christian includes one living in the unrepentant practice of homosexuality.
In addition, EV itself also accepts that such a one doing so, as Sakler is, could then be placed into any form of leadership within a professed Christian fellowship. But welcome to your evangelical nightmare, it’s only just beginning.
Also as an example of adventures in missing the point EV would later Tweet:
APPRISING MINISTRIES CONFUSES EMERGENT VILLAGE – http://is.gd/29PPm /// the picture was too funny – I had to pass along the link! (Online source)
Ok, and this would have to do with the point of this post, how? I also find it odd that EV would even bother to react to supposedly useless blogs that no one is thought to read. Rather curious to say the least.
