Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune reports:

If the members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) were looking for assurances that everything is going to be resolved after the church-wide assembly votes on the question of gay and lesbian clergy, they didn’t get what they expected Tuesday. The task force that drew up a proposal to repeal a ban on gay and lesbian ministers from leading churches unless they promise to be celibate wasn’t sugar-coating the depth of the rift that might be looming…

The task force conducted a series of hearings Tuesday where delegates could ask questions about the proposal, which is scheduled to come up for a vote Friday afternoon… (Online source)

That having sexual relations with another of the same sex i.e homosexuality is sin couldn’t be any clearer in the Bible. As I’ve pointed out before Jesus of Nazareth—our Creator—Who, by the way, is speaking from the perspective of an eyewitness, defines marriage when He informs us — “But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female. Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh.’ ”  (Mark 10:6-8, ESV)

So as you can see, in the case of homosexual activity, it will always be outside of the marriage covenant from a Biblical standpoint. And recently I shared that I felt led to focus attention upon the sin of homosexuality right now as here we’re able to light up the night sky with the Word of God. You see, as we have been doing so you should now be able to see the advance of enemy forces against Sola Scriptura because the case for affirming the practice of homosexuality can’t be made from the Bible.

But if one won’t adhere to Scripture on this issue, they will also eventually bail on the exclusivity of Jesus Christ. In fact, many in mainline evangelicalism already have; and because of open embrace of the egregiously ecumenical Emerging Church aka Emergent Church—currently morphing into Emergence Christianity—with stories like what’s currently happening in the ELCA mainstream evangelicalism is right now getting a good look at their immediate future.
