RECENT VOTE ON HOMOSEXUALITY BY ELCA
By Ken Silva pastor-teacher on Aug 25, 2009 in Homosexuality/"Christian"
I’ve pointed out previously that as a general rule, and a courtesy, we do not publish email without the permission of the sender. However at the same time, all email sent to AM and Christian Research Network is considered the property of Apprising Ministries so we may indeed publish unsolicited email for the purposes of edification.
This particular email below, which concerns the recent AM article ELCA And Homosexuality, is published with permission and presented here for the benefit of other brothers and sisters in the ELCA. How sad to read the heartache this tragic decision will now be causing. And as I’ve been saying, this is the future of the more conservative denominations because, in their own lust for Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism, they largely also only pay lip service to Sola Scriptura.
But the fact remains, it’s not faithful Bible-believing Christians who are tearing apart mainline denominations over issue of those in sin by having sexual relations with another of the same sex i.e homosexuality; no, it’s those who refuse to obey what Jesus says in the Bible who’re now found here:
Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting. (Romans 16:17-18, NASB)
The proper path for those who actually love the real Jesus of Biblical revelation really is crystal clear…
Ken,
I belong to a Lutheran church in the ELCA. I am truly saddened by this decision that has been made and shocked concerning all I didn’t know the ELCA stood for. I have thought of leaving my church for several years (due to the national leadership), but our congregation is relatively conservative and small. However, I don’t see how I can support an assembly that doesn’t even support what the Bible says.
We spoke about this topic in SS today, and I am glad to know that all of the members (of the class) feel saddened by this as well. We do not approve of this and I wonder if our congregation will leave the ELCA. Our pastor seems to be okay with it, but I never asked him directly. Please pray for those of us in this church. Thank you!
