having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. Now Don’t Go Confusing Me With Bible Texts, I’ve Already Made Up My Mind

Previously I pointed out in the Apprising Ministries article The Nightmare Beginning For Mainstream Evangelicalism that by watching how the highly divisive issue of homosexuality is ripping apart the mainline denominations e.g. the Episcopal Church mainstream evangelicalism itself is getting another peek at its own impending future; because it is. “Gay Affirming Pastors” like Jay Bakker and ELCA “Pastor” Nadia Bolz-Weber are steadily gaining ground within evangelicalism.

The reason mainline denominations mirror the very near future of evangelicalism is rather simple; by circa the 1960s most mainline Protestant denominations had already opened themselves to Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism (CSM), and now just look at what’s happening within them. We have already warned you long ago of the dangers associated with evangelical leaders in your church embracing the treacherous teachings of the egregiously ecumenical Emerging Church aka Emergent Church—now morphing into Emergence Christianity—fraught with CSM.

This began a few years ago through “alternative” Young Adult and Youth settings/services using material spewed by EC leaders; for example, seemingly innocuous Nooma DVDs by mystic Rob Bell. Long story short, the warped and toxic teachings of e.g. Bell, EC theologian Tony Jones, and his quasi-universalist “Pastor” Doug Pagitt, carry a lot more weight with your youth than you may know. Don’t believe me; then actually make the time look at research within the AM post Disciplines To Deception In Southern Baptist Convention.

Follow the links provided and at the State Board of Missions of the Alabama Baptist Convention (SBC)  you will find a Discipleship Resource called Spiritual Disciplines: Pathway to Christian Maturity, originally produced by the Georgia Baptist Convention (SBC). The point here is these are not individual churches, rather, this is at the state convention level. And in this recommended “resource” SBCers—here aimed at adults—we are taught the supposed “discipline” of Lectio Divina by the use of teachings from the aforementioned Tony Jones.

But what’s this got to do with homosexuality and the people mentioned above? I’m glad you asked; as I warned before in Gay Marriage: Backlash Against Anglican Leader Expected, there’s a very dark and threatening same-sex storm right now approaching hurricane force, and which is currently only slightly off the coast of the mainstream evangelical community. And the reason for this foreboding news is due to the fact that more and more in the EC openly affirm this sinful and deviant lifestyle as a viable one for the Christian.

Despite my critics, trust me they’re there, I’ve not been covering this issue because I’m homophobic, or hate gay people, etc.; no, I’ve been trying to bring all of this to your the attention for one main reason: The attack against Sola Scriptura couldn’t be any more obvious than it is with the subject of homosexuality. Dr. John MacArthur is dead-on-target when he says about the EC:

One of the big issues is homosexuality in the Emerging Church. They don’t want to take a position on homosexuality. The Bible is not vague or obscure or oblique about homosexuality.  It couldn’t be more clear.  A homosexual will not inherit the Kingdom of God…that’s pretty clear.  Homosexuality in Romans chapter 1 is a perversion that is manifestly when it happens in a culture, begins to dominate a culture, an evidence of divine wrath and divine judgment.  So the Bible is clear. They don’t want that clarity.

They want to run from the light. Scripture is light, it is not darkness, but they like the darkness because their deeds are evil. So I think the motive behind this whole Emerging Church thing, whether it’s a conscious or unconscious motive, is discomfort over what the Bible really says, whether it’s about the gospel or whether it’s about sin, virtue…they don’t like it and so the out is…Well, it’s not clear.  This is just another way to set the Bible aside. As an illustration of how this setting the Bible aside is done I give you the below video clip of a teaching by Rev. Dr. Bob Shore-Goss, pastor of the Metropolitan Community Church. Now to be clear, as far as I know, Dr. Shore-Goss makes no claim to be part of the Emerging Church. But he does tell us at his MySpace Queer Theologian that he’s:

Below Shore-Goss also informs us he’s “a former Jesuit Catholic Priest” as well; considering all of this, we sincerely point out that Dr. Shore-Goss is a very educated man, a published theologian, and one who should be quite familiar with what Christian theology is. Yet, slithering in the same polluted vein we witness in Tony Jones Will Discuss Homosexuality But Not From Scripture, we first circumvent Sola Scriptura by either setting the Bible aside entirely and/or clouding clear texts thereby insuring that won’t be involved in actual Biblical argumentation. 

However, what you will actually hear below are the very same tired old arguments from liberal theology, which have long ago already been destroyed. And yet one by one, they are now being resurrected by so-called “progressive” gay-affirming “Christians” and then foisted upon unsuspecting evangelicals. Shore-Goss begins his strike injecting doctrines of demons into the visible church with a hiss reminicent of the head seducing spirit himself as he shares his opening quotation:  “No credible case against homosexuality [and] homosexuals can be made from the Bible.” Translation: Yea, hath God said?
