Attacking Scripture

Apprising Ministries is an online apologetics and discernment ministry extending from Connecticut River Baptist Church, the small local church where I am pastor-teacher. As such, it is literally a part of my calling in Christ to point out that there are so many in the visible church who are currently being deceived by a veritable flood of phony/counterfeit Christian teachers today.

Many don’t know that CRBC was initially planted specifically to try and reach younger people. Having been given a shepherd’s heart for them, this is main reason why AM almost immediately began confronting the egregiously ecumenical Emerging Church aka Emergent Church—morphing into Emergence Christianity—(EC) when Jesus gave us a website we never asked for.

And the absolute fact is, this EC has always been aimed as an attack on Sola Scriptura; as I’ve said before, in order to advance its antichrist ecumenicism and core doctrine of Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism (CSM) ala Living Spiritual Teacher and Quaker mystic Richard Foster and his spiritual twin Dallas Willard, it was going to have to knock out this principle pillar of the Church of Jesus Christ.

Sadly, among the young, that’s precisely what this postliberal cult growing up around people like the dubious duo of the EC quasi-universalist pastor Doug Pagitt and his “theologian in residence” Tony Jones has been able to do. The EC was even “blessed” with its own rock star in Rob Bell—easily the Elvis of this Emergence Christianity—which sees itself as the new reformation, who immediately went on the offensive e.g. Rob Bell Does Not Adhere To Sola Scriptura.

If you are among those following fools who are now busy de-forming the Christian faith into some kind of quasi-Buddhism with their neo-Gnostic spiritual malformation of spurious CSM, which is a highly subjective and feelings-oriented approach to the texts of Holy Scripture, then the following are a few salient quotes from God for you to prayerfully ponder in your next session of Contemplative/Centering Prayer:

How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your Word. With all my heart I have sought You; Do not let me wander from Your commandments. Your Word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You. (Psalm 119:9-11, NASB)

O LORD God, Thou hast magnified Thy Word above all Thy Name (Psalm 138:2, KJV).

Then the Master—God the Son, Christ Jesus—speaking by God the Holy Spirit, and Who just happened to be the Creator God Himself in human flesh, tells us — “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'” And then Jesus says to God the Father:

“Thy Word is truth” (John 17:17, KJV).

So the critical question becomes: Got Bible?
