Over at MMI Todd Rhodes tells us, apparently using hyperbole, that:

I saw a small announcement on the Mars Hill website, but saw nothing on Shane’s current church website.  The discernment ministries websites are all abuzz over this move; but it seems that no one else either 1.  cares; 2.  knows about it; or 3. cares. (Online source)

Ok, as one personally involved with a few online apologetics and discernment ministries, I guess one man’s “abuzz” is another’s “ayawn.” Rhodes then confesses, “I don’t know much about Shane.” Well, some of us do e.g. see—Shane Hipps Joins With Rob Bell and the links within. And herein lies the danger as Rhodes then naively speculates:

Bell kind of separates himself from many of the other church leaders.  While many are open and very public figures, Bell has chosen to become more secluded.  He keeps to himself and does his own thing. (Online source)

Really; Rob Bell, who’s unquestionably the Elvis of the egregiously ecumenical Emerging Church aka Emergent Church de-formation of the Christian faith—now morphing into Emergence Christianity, “keeps to himself and does his own thing?”

Sorry about that Todd; but when considering Bell’s uber popular Nooma DVDs being used in scores of evangelical church youth and young adult groups, his having a publishing contract with Zondervan, and his being a featured speaker at Zondervan’s National Pastors Conference 2009, as well as Catalyst 2009, one is hard-pressed to see Rob Bell keeping “to himself.”
