THE NEW CHRISTIANS WITH CHRISTIANITY WORTH BELIEVING—NO SOLA SCRIPTURA: YES, WOMEN PASTORS AND QUEER CHRISTIANS

DOWN WITH SOLA SCRIPTURA!

RELIGIOUS DOCTRINE ITSELF NO LONGER DUE RESPECT...NEVER AGAIN

I realize we should all know this by now, but within spiritually spineless evanjellyfish the Devil’s minions have been so successful with their constant refrain of, “Did God really say?”, that many are afraid to answer, “Yes; He did.” Jesus tells us — “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves” (Matthew 7:15). In commenting on this important verse Dr. Walter Martin (1928-1989) once said, “If you don’t know the difference between fleece and fur, then you’re going to lose your spiritual arm right up to your elbow.”

With this as our backdrop, we remind you that leading Emergence Christianity spokesman Tony Jones has written a book called The New Christians and his Emergent Church pastor Doug Pagitt, of Solomon’s Porch (below) where Jones is “theologian in residence,” has one called A Christianity Worth Believing. Apprising Ministries has also pointed out that “new Christians” Jones and Pagitt are also the ones behind an upcoming Emerging Church gathering, which we discuss a bit further in Tony Jones And His Pastor Doug Pagitt With Jopa Productions And Christianity 21.

In publicizing this Emergent event within their vacuous version of Christianity, which Jones and his quasi-universalist pastor Pagitt feel is “worth believing,” they tell us:

Christianity21 is less a conference and more a happening, an event—a gathering of voices and ideas that will shape the future of our faith.

We live in a time of epochal change. Many find this change exciting; for others, it’s a challenge. Call it globalization, pluralization, or postmodernism, this change affects our economy, politics, government, and education—all of society. And, of course, our faith and our churches are not immune to change.

So we have gathered 21 of the most important voices for the future of Christianity—21 voices for the 21st century—to speak into our future as people of faith in this age. They represent a diverse array of backgrounds, interests, and passions, and they will provide a wide range of innovative and challenging presentations. (Online source)

As we look at some of these alleged “innovative” and “most important voices for the future of Christianity” who’ll “speak into our future” in order to “shape the future of our faith” we should also expect to catch a glimpse of what these new Christians feel is a Christianity worth believing. We already know this Emergence Christianity, a definitely inclusive and very ecumenical form of the Christian faith—in some sectors almost universalism—began as a rebellion against Sola Scriptura in order to instead embrace existential, and highly subjective, Contemplative Mysticism/Spirituality (CSM) as its own authority.

One of the speakers expected at Christianity 21 is Rev. Nanette Sawyer, who is the “community pastor” of Wicker Park Grace church er, community that was originally a “project was launched by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The increasingly liberal PCUSA also happens to the denomination that ordained “pastor” Sawyer. In addition Sawyer was also one of the contributors to the book An Emergent Manifesto of Hope (EMH), which you may recall was co-edited by the dubious duo of Tony Jones and Doug Pagitt.

In EMH Sawyer says:

I am a Christian today because of a Hindu meditation master. She taught me some things that Christians had not. She taught me to meditate, to sit in silence and openness in the presence of God… I believe that all people are children of God. (45, emphasis mine)

Huh? Now make no mistake, it’s not as if Sawyer shouldn’t know better; she does have a “master of theological studies degree in comparative world religions” (EMH, 42). So this leaves her no excuse for this very wrong understanding. But yet, “pastor” Sawyer still tells us that she believes “all people are children of God,” while the Lord specifically says that they are not — But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12, NASB). Simple logic tells us that if you have to become something, then it’s quite obvious you were not that thing before.

In this particular case—a child of God. Earlier in Christianity 21 And Alleged Innovative Voices In The Faith: Nadia Bolz-Weber we introduced you to the Sarcastic Lutheran aka Rev. Nadia Bolz-Weber, “pastor” of the emerging House for All Sinners and Saints (HFASS, their abbreviation) Lutheran church, which is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and consists of:

a group of folks figuring out how to be a liturgical, Christo-centric, social justice oriented, queer inclusive, incarnational, contemplative, irreverent, ancient – future church with a progressive but deeply rooted theological imagination. (Online source)

From the above we can see that, in order to embrace women pastors, this new Christianity has set aside what the God the Holy Spirit says in 1 Timothy 2:12 — But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. This version of a postliberalism with its postmodern theology also follows in the same polluted vein as the long dead mainline denominations which would embrace the original version of liberal (aka modern) theology and ordain women to the office of pastor-teacher (i.e. senior teaching elder) in violation of Holy Scripture.

So when we also see that Bolz-Weber’s church is “queer inclusive” it really shouldn’t surprise us at all. You see, when we examine the history of those aforementioned liberal mainline denominations we find, along with the embrace of CSM and the rejection of the doctrine of Hell in favor of some supposed universal “Fatherhood of God and Brotherhood of man,” embrace of the deviant lifestyle of homosexuality is one of the very next steps we will observe.

You may recall that in his Beliefnet blog post Announcing Queermergent Tony Jones introduced us to Adele Sakler:

whom I’ve known for a few years, has started yet another “hyphenated” group within the emergent network-of-networks.  She’s calling it “Queermergent,” and, as you might guess, it’s focused on GLBTQ issues. (Online source)

If you don’t know, the abbreviation above is short for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer. The reason I mention Sakler is 1) she is practicing lesbian “Christ-follower,” co-leader of Richmond Emergent Cohort, and budding LGBTQ activist; and 2) Sakler aka Existential Punk has told us herself that the aforementioned “pastor” Nadia Bolz-Weber is “a big supporter of Queermergent.” So now we also know that these new Christians are openly embracing of the sin of sexual immorality of the same sex variety i.e. homosexuality as part of their Christianity worth believing.

In closing this for now, you may have seen the TV commercials for a type of “energy” drink where after showing someone performing something of a rather questionable nature they then cut to that person who says to us, “Welcome to my world; the world of Red Bull.” Well, in the world of the postliberal, but really not-so-new Christians, and their warped pseudo-Christianity “worth believing” we can see the following: Out goes the Bible in order to usher in their woman pastors and queer Christians. Well, welcome to their world, the world of a whole other kind of *ahem* bull…
