Christians Do Not Continually Practice Unrepentant Sin

Apprising Ministries continues doing what we can to alert spiritually obtuse pretending to be Protestant evangelicals to the grave dangers and deceptions of embracing the Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism (CSM) perpetrated by Living Spiritual Teacher and Quaker mystic Richard Foster, along with his friend and spiritual twin SBC minister Dallas Willard, as so-called Spiritual Formation (SF).

But CSM is nothing more than refried Roman Catholic mysticism with its pietism and asceticism romanticized for those who are ignorant of Church history. With this in mind I will also tell you plainly that CSM found its way into mainstream evangelicalism through its foolish embrace of the sinfully ecumenical Emergent Church aka Emerging Church, a neo-liberal cult now operating within it. The EC’s postmodern form of “big tent” Emergence Christianity is the putrid spiritual fruit of critical thinking skills-numbing CSM. At her fine More Books and Things blog Carla brings us another case in point as to how far this counter-Reformation spirituality has already spread into mainstream evanjellyfish.

She gives us the scoop on popular Christian writer Philip Yancey, who when asked, “Which writers most influenced your thinking about prayer,” tells us:

No Protestants come to mind, to be honest, so, much I have learned about prayer is from the Catholics. One book I discovered was by Mark Phibido, called, Arm Chair Mystic. Of course, if you want to go deeper, there’s Thomas Merton… (Online source)

Did you catch that; here we have Philip Yancey, an alleged evangelical Protestant and editor at large for Christianity Today magazine, going to apostate Roman Catholic mystics to learn about prayer. He even says that if we want to “go deeper” into Contemplative/Centering Prayer (CCP), meditation in an altered state of consciousness which is the crowning jewel of CSM, “there’s Thomas Merton.” You can learn more about the mystic Merton in Who Is Thomas Merton? For our purposes here I’ll simply point out that sinful ecumenicism is unquestionably a fruit of the practice of CSM; for proof one need only look at the deplorable mainline Protestant denominations, which began practicing it circa the mid-60′s.

Against this backdrop I remind you again that there is indeed a same-sex storm gathering hurricane force, which is right now, looming only slightly off the horizon of the mainstream evangelical community. Once again, I point out the reason why I believe the Lord moved me to begin covering the issue of a growing acceptance within evangelicalism that the deviant and sinful lifestyle of having sexual relations with another of the same sex, i.e homosexuality, is a viable one for the regenerated Christian. I’m using the issue of homosexuality as a flare to light up the sky with the Word of God in order to give you a chance to see the wide, and very rapid, advance of the pro-gay agenda of the EC within mainstream of the visible church.

I’ve also told you before that a primary goal of the EC, right from its evil inception has been to introduce the Counter Reformation spirituality of CSM; this is easily demonstrated as I showed you in The Emerging Church And The New Progressive Theology On Christ. There I informed you Living Spiritual Teacher and EC guru Brian McLaren wanted us to know that Richard Foster and Dallas Willard “with their emphasis on spiritual disciplines,” i.e. CSM, were “key mentors of the emerging church” as cited below from the 2004 article “The Emergent Mystique” in Christianity Today:

For the record, the above is from Brian’s Annotation to “The Emergent Mystique” – CT article. The fact is the EC, with its core doctrine of CSM, mounted an attack upon Sola Scriptura and is largely responsible for creating the current evangelical fad of practicing what’s merely refried mysticism-lite of apostate Roman Catholicism. One of the critical ways this happened within mainstream evangelicalism is the leadership of many evangelical churches made the huge blunder of plugging in the warped and toxic teachings of EC leaders, e.g. EC icon Rob Bell and his friend Doug Pagitt, into their Young Adult and Youth ministries. This is why recently in Word Faith “Bishop” Jim Swilley Announces That He’s Gay I told you that I believe a major evangelical figure will come out as homosexual “soon.”

The Rancid Fruit Of CSM Ripping Apart The Mainline Beginning To Invade Evangelicalism

The reason being, this will then serve to ignite this whole debate concerning homosexuality, which is currently ripping apart mainline denominations, right within the mainstream of evangelicalism itself. As you can see the aforementioned Philip Yancey is “this year’s keynote speaker” for the GCN conference. Let’s leave aside, for now, whatever Yancey may say in his message; it still certainly does give us another indication of how far the pro-gay agenda has now slithered into evangelicalism. No one credible is against serving LGBT people who self-identify as Christians; the sole issue is: How is it that an organization will serve these precious LGBT people for whom Jesus died. GCN clearly serves up a mixed message, which is obvious in something they call The Great Debate:

Since same-sex sexual relations will always be outside the marriage covenant established by God it will always be a sin of sexual immorality; however, below is self-professed “gay Christian” Justin Lee, executive director of The Gay Christian Network, attempting to argue that same-sex sexual relations are not always sinful. Unfortunately, he ends up lying because I’ve already shown you in Bible Outs Gay Marriage that God’s infallible and inerrant Word knows nothing of same-sex marriage. Consider the Words of our Creator Himself—Christ Jesus of Nazareth—as recorded by the eyewitness Matthew:

And Pharisees came up to him and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful to divorce one’s wife for any cause?” He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” (Matthew 19:3-6)

The question then becomes: What is there to debate, if you believe what the Bible actually says.
