Rough Spiritual Waters Dead Ahead For Evanjellyfish

As spiritual blindness grows and a tsunami of apostasy approaches a large part of my task here at the online apologetics and discernment work Apprising Ministries is to cover, and document, issues within the visible church. So I’m doing what I can to warn you that evangelicalism made a horrible mistake when it embraced the sinfully ecumenical neo-liberal cult of the Emerging Church; the idea is, those with ears that hear and eyes that see can be prepared as these things begin popping up in their own evangelical denominations and local churches. 

This Emergent Church—now an upgraded EC 2.0—was always a veritable Trojan Horse full of heresy headed by, among others, the unholy EC trinity of apostates, Living Spiritual Teacher and EC guru Brian McLaren, universalist Emerging Church pastor Doug Pagitt, and his friend Tony Jones, the progressive “theologian in residence” at Solomon’s Porch. 

Part of their loathsome legacy is bringing into the mainstream a new postmodern form of “big tent” Progressive Christianity—a Liberalism 2.0—sometimes referred to by these rebels against the final authority of God’s Word as Emergence Christianity; and along with this postmodern rebellion has come demonic deconstructionists and irrational philosophers whose goal it is to even attack thought itself. 

In Doug Pagitt And The Emerging Church Gay Agenda I reiterated that online apologetics and discernment ministries tried to warn you the primary goal of the EC has been to attack the Protestant Reformation—specifically Sola Scriptura—but, unfortunately, the warnings went unheeded. As I pointed out before, this is the reason why God moved me to begin covering the issue of a growing acceptance within evangelicalism that the deviant and sinful lifestyle of having sexual relations with another of the same sex, i.e homosexuality, is a viable one for the regenerated Christian.  

And the EC is already making acceptance of this sin of sexual immorality for the Christian a prime hot-button issue within the church visible. I’ve also brought to your attention that tip-of-the-spear for this area of attack upon proper biblical Christianity is gay-affirming “pastor” Jay Bakker of Revolution:NYC; who’s already joined the EC elete in the recent apostasia-palooza Big Tent Christianity: Being and Becoming the Church last month. 

While these gay-affirming people love to say someone like me is pushing “hate” at the LGBT community, their problem is, the evidence clearly hows otherwise to those who actually look at it. As a matter of fact, in Adele Sakler And Ken Silva you’ll see this in an email exchange I had with Adele Sakler aka Existential Punk, who happens to be a practicing lesbian “Christ-follower” heading up Queermergent, and identifies herself with the antinomian Outlaw Preachers slithering up around Bakker.

Gaining more strength the deeper that corrupt Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism (CSM) penetrates mainstream evangelicalism, you need to understand that there’s a very dark and threatening same-sex storm—now rapidly approaching hurricane force—looming just off the coast of your own local church. The reason for this is simple: Practitioners of spurious CSM do not adhere to sola Scriptura and therefore receive a delusion (cf. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-11) of sappy sentimentality and fall victim to a false kind of love for mankind  — For people will be lovers of self (2 Timothy 3:2).

What happens when one approaches Christian spirituality with a feelings-first orientation, rather than bowing before the final authority of God’s Word, is painfully obvious in the now mortally wounded mainline denominations right now being torn apart by the homosexual lobby. It’s moving closer to the mainstream, and is the background against which I introduce you to a Kathy Baldock, who is affiliated with, and contributes to, something called Affirming Christian Network:

The so-called “slam post” Baldock refers to is Philip Yancey And The Gay Christian Network where I told you that Philip Yancey, an alleged evangelical Protestant and editor at large for Christianity Today magazine, is “this year’s keynote speaker” for the upcoming “The Mountaintop Experience” hosted by The Gay Christian Network:

Let’s leave aside, for now, whatever Yancey may say in his message; Lord willing I’ll have more on that later, but as I said before, this still certainly does give us another indication of just how far the pro-gay agenda has now slithered into evangelicalism itself. Coming back to the aforementioned Kathy Baldock, who is the one that made the choice to attack my post concerning Yancey, her Canyonwalker Connections: Repairing the Breach Between the Church and the GLBT Christian Community tells us:

It Is Not Loving To Withhold The Gospel Of Jesus Christ From The LGBT Community

As noble as, “I try to show love to my GLBT brothers and sisters in Christ” sounds, Baldock is among those who are affirming these precious LGBT people, for whom Christ died, in their sin. I told her that this is not showing love at all; by their condoning these unrepentant men and women continuing to openly commit sexual immorality as they live the deviant and sinful lifestyle of having sexual relations with another of the same sex i.e homosexuality, they are actually withholding the freeing power of God’s Gospel from them.

By doing so, despite all their pious blather about inclusion and love, the fact remains that gay affirming people like Kathy Baldock are then leaving these LGBT people locked away in the chains and darkness of their own personal prison cell of sin. So I’ll ask again: Why No Condemnation For Christians Who Are Homopressive? Baldock tells us she hikes “a lot in some canyons near” where she lives, which she says has afforded her for years to “talk to and listen to God and the Holy Spirit.”

Here’s the problem now facing the mainstream evangelical community: Sola Scriptura has been jettisoned in favor of some highly subjective personal conversation with “God.” However what these, we assume, well-meaning people seem to have missed is that God the Father has already spoken to us through God the Son (cf. Hebrews 1:1-2) when God the Holy Spirit inspired the text above, with which I opened this particular article:

Yet now we’re seeing the same tired old debunked arguments once used by the original cult of liberal theology emerging again through the mouths of people claiming to be in line with evangelicalism such as Kathy Baldock, as well as from Emergent Outlaws like Adele Sakler aka Existential Punk, a practicing lesbian who is the creator and site administrator of Queermergent, whom Baldock just recently interviewed:

But just what exactly are supposed scholars in biblical studies, theology, ethics, psychology, genetics, sociology, related fields, etc. etc. going to tell us which might happen to have escaped the attention of our Creator? Answer: Nothing. No, the absolute Truth is that in Romans chapter one we are informed that the LORD God Almighty’s patience will (and possibly now has) run out; and among the judgments we find: 

Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

 For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. (Romans 1:24-27) 

In verse 26 we read — For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. Now, it should be obvious enough we are being told here that what we will read next would be considered dishonorable passions by the Creator. And notice that this has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with any particular culture; but rather, with what God Himself as Creator judges universally to be dishonorable passions. Here’s the b part of verse 26 — For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature.

The logical question that should arise now is: What are these natural relations women exchange here for those that are contrary to nature. God the Holy Spirit anticipates this question and then provides our answer in Verse 27 — For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another. We see then — likewise as the women, the men also gave up—or exchanged — national relations with women for those that are contrary to nature.

So now we can understand that according to the created order, the LORD God Almighty—very the Creator of the universe Himself—has in fact defined “natural” sexual relations to be that which occurs between one man with one woman after marriage (cf. Matthew 19:3-6). As a result therefore, Scripture then defines sexual activity between members of the same sex as being “unnatural.” And this is also reinforced in the b part of verse 27 — men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Now we can put all of this together and come to the realization that, according to the Bible, God refers to sexual relations between members of the same sex as the dishonoring of their bodies. The sin of practicing homosexuality is also said to be abandoning natural relations and being consumed with passion, i.e. lust (a sin in and of itself) for a member of one’s own sex. Then verse 27 lists this among indecent acts and clearly refers to this homosexual activity as error; the original Greek carries the meaning of a perversion of morality.

There is just no way around what these texts are saying because this passage of the Bible concerns proper sexual conduct for men and women—period. This is part of the created order itself; and so it would apply to all of mankind regardless of any cultural mores of any generation. If we really do care about LGBT people then we’re going to tell them the truth. And if you actually love Jesus Christ, then you’d respect His Word and teach to His creatures what He has said. So when all is said and done the question now becomes: What’s so hard about all of this?

May the Lord grant people like Kathy Baldock and so-called Outlaw Preachers repentance for their sin of lying to the LGBT community and for their unspeakable cruelty towards them as they withhold the Gospel of Jesus Christ from them. In his classic commentary on Romans the late Dr. Donald Grey Barnhouse shares the proper Christian attitude toward those enslaved by the sin of sexual immorality called homosexuality:

We have a hymn that expresses the true Christian attitude toward these, as toward all who are in the bonds of deep sin:

Rescue the perishing, care for the dying,
Snatch them, in pity, from sin and the grave;
Weep o’er the erring ones, lift up the fallen,
Tell them of Jesus, the mighty to save.

Down in the human heart, crushed by the tempter,
Feelings lie buried that grace can restore,
Touched by a loving hand, wakened with kindness,
Chords that were broken will vibrate once more. 

Rescue the perishing, care for the dying,
Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save.

Rescue the perishing, duty demands it;
Strength for thy labors the Lord will provide;
Back to the narrow way, patiently win them,
Tell them of Jesus, the Savior, who died.

For there is hope for them in the Lord Jesus Christ, and there is no hope for them anywhere else in this world. There is salvation from the penalty of sin and there is salvation from the power of sin. The Lord Jesus Christ is able to save and to keep, and He is able to give you love for the unlovely and zeal for the rescue of the lost.[1]
