CONCERNING CONTEMPLATIVE PASTRIX ADELE CALHOUN
By Ken Silva pastor-teacher on Dec 20, 2012 in Current Issues, Features
I’ve pointed out many times now that as a general rule, and a courtesy, we do not publish email without the permission of the sender.
At the same time, all email sent to AM and Christian Research Network is considered the property of Apprising Ministries so we may indeed publish unsolicited email for the purposes of edification.
Such is the case here. I offer this exchange as an example of how sometimes we must speak the truth in love gently, but firmly:

Hello Pastor Silva, I wanted to humbly ask a favor. I am good friends with Adele Calhoun and attend her church.
I noticed that your link referring to her as “Pastrix” is the very first thing you see if you google her. Is there any way you could delete this posting?
Even though you may disagree with her on some things, she is a faithful follower of Christ and a just great person and this posting isn’t what I’d like to be the very first thing people see online.
Please let me know if you would be willing to delete this posting. Thank you so much, Emily

Hello Emily,
Thank you for contacting Apprising Ministries. Please know there was no offense taken and I received this as written from a point of sincere concern.
I’m responding in the tone of two people talking about issues over coffee. I just put all of this up front due to the coldness of the written language, which lacks the ability to distinguish inflections, etc.
Below you said: “I am good friends with Adele Calhoun and attend her church. I noticed that your link referring to her as “Pastrix” is the very first thing you see if you google her.”
Then you asked: “Is there any way you could delete this posting?” Unfortunately, I’m afraid that I cannot in good conscience do that.
You then go on to say: “Even though you may disagree with her on some things, she is a faithful follower of Christ and a just great person…”
I have no reason to doubt that she is a great person; and yes, I do disagree with her on some serious matters. However, if she’s a faithful Christian then she needs to cease her rebellion against His Word.
God has reserved the position of elder for men; and since the pastor is the senior teaching elder, she cannot be a pastor. You also said: “this posting isn’t what I’d like to be the very first thing people see online.”
Well Emily, I didn’t have anything to do with how TIM KELLER AND CONTEMPLATIVE PASTRIX ADELE CALHOUN got there.
I would have to say its where the Lord wanted it. I hope you understand that I do not have anything against Adele Calhoun as a person, but I will continue to oppose her apostasy, her false teaching about corrupt Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism, and her recommending false teachers.
It’s part of my job (cf. 2 Timothy 4:2; Titus 1:9-10).
Sincerely,
Ken Silva, pastor-teacher
