Someone Who Is Sincere, Can Be Sincerely Wrong

Apprising Ministries brought the video below to your attention yesterday in Andrew Marin Adrift With Tony Jones? where I also pointed out that Marin has the reputation of taking an evangelical view concerning the deviant and sinful lifestyle of having sexual relations with another of the same sex, i.e homosexuality. And if you don’t know, Andrew Marin is “the President and Founder of The Marin Foundation” and author of the book Love Is An Orientation, and as I said before he also has a blog by the same name.

From what I’ve seen Marin appears to be a very nice, sincere, man and his work with the GLBTQ community is definitely commendable; in other words, I’m not a “hater” of either Marin or of GLBTQ people. As I’ve pointed out before, there’s a very specific reason why the Lord moved me to begin covering the issue of a growing acceptance within evangelicalism that the deviant and sinful lifestyle of having sexual relations with another of the same sex, i.e homosexuality, is a viable one for the regenerated Christian. 

Now for those who may be familiar with fire bases in Vietnam, which were temporary artillery encampments there to provide fire support and quarters for ground operations near the front lines, in the dark of night there were many times enemy forces would try and move in for a sneak attack. So periodically flares were shot high above the area to light up the night sky in order to monitor any possible movement of enemy troops. And even in this spiritual war Satan’s seducing spirits sneak around in the darkness with their didaskaliais daimonion (doctrines of demons).

I’ve pointed out previously that I’m using the issue of homosexuality to light up the sky with the Word of God to give you a chance to see the wide, and very rapid, advance of the egregiously ecumenical Emerging Church de-formation of the Christian faith aka Emergent Church—morphing into Emergence Christianity (EC)—which is a cult of postliberalism now firmly within mainstream evangelicalism. And the EC was a Trojan Horse from which was unloaded corrupt Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism (CSM) ala Living Spiritual Teacher and Quaker mystic Richard Foster and his spiritual twin Dallas Willard.

This critical thinking skills-numbing CSM is right now about to become a raging fire around the pillar of Sola Scriptura within mainstream evangelicalism; consider for example Purpose Driven Pope Rick Warren placing his blessing upon a CSM guru by the name of Peter Scazerro, which you can see in Rick Warren Now Openly Promoting Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism. You see, long before God established AM as one of the more visible online apologetics and discernment ministries I have been involved in the study of Comparative Religion, evangelizing non-Christian cults, and apologetics.

And when I started out in 1988, one of the first teachers the Lord used to further my interest in these areas was Dr. Walter Martin, the late cult expert and renowned defender of what he so often referred to as “the historic orthodox Christian faith.” One of Dr. Martin’s last lecture series involved what he called “the cult of liberal theology, or modern theology, if you will.” For reasons that have become crystal clear now I’ve had a very intense interest in studying that area of theology, and through these years, I’ve been afforded the opportunity to become quite familiar with their speculative humanism.

So imagine my surprise when, over the past five years of studying and covering the EC, I began hearing the very same liberal—and long ago debunked—arguments coming out of the mouths of guys like Tony Jones, heretical “theologian in residence” at the EC church of his equally heretical quasi-universalist pastor Doug Pagitt. But some ask: “Must you put these things quite this way; those familiar with the work of Dr. Martin will recognize his voice as I answer, if you have any brains you do. And sadly, at a time when evangelical leaders are becoming so spiritually obtuse, we have no voice like Walter Martin.

No Debate Concerning Same-Sex Sexual Immorality For Those Who Believe The Bible

While I do not agree with everything Dr. Martin taught, when it came down to what the text of the Bible says, he was normally dead-on-target. Concerning the sin of homosexuality circa 1980, as I used for the opening subtitle in Indeed, Did God Really Say?, Martin would query: What exactly is there to argue about; if you really do believe what the Bible says? And this now brings us right back around to why it is the EC wanted to bring in CSM; so-called “Christian” mysticism is a direct attack on the all sufficiency, and final authority of the Bible, i.e. it’s against Sola Scriptura.

Here’s where my studies into liberal/modern theology have given me such an advantage concerning this Emerging/ent/ence deformation of Christianity, the Lord be praised; what men like EC guru Brian McLaren, his close friend Tony Jones, and the Elvis of the EC Rob Bell have been busy doing for years is hacking an upgraded postmodern Liberalism 2.0 into your Young Adult and Youth Groups. Now, if you take a look at the ELCA Imploding Over Homosexuality and ELCA Bishop Mark Hanson Says The Bible Is Not The Final Authority you’ll see a couple of perfect illustrations as to what happens when we decide issues by our fickle feelings.

A while back I brought a critical point to your attention in The New Christians With Christianity Worth Believing—No Sola Scriptura: Yes, Women Pastors And Queer Christians, which is actually a play on words using titles of books by the EC dubious duo of Jones and Pagitt. When we make the time to closely examine these mortally wounded mainline denominations who embraced the original version of liberal (aka modern) theology, and which are now being ripped apart by the uber aggressive—and highly divisive—homosexual agenda now rising up within them, a pathetic pattern will then come *ahem* emerging.

The order went roughly like this, mainline denominations would embrace the cult of liberal/modern theology which kicked out Sola Scriptura in order to bring in spurious CSM, and with it, Counter Reformation ecumenicism. Remember now that modern/liberal theology was the attempt to harmonize [read: compromise] the Christian faith with the supposed science and reason of modern man; and so, because the feminist movement was also making great advances during this time, in violation of the Word of God the mainline denominations threw the door wide open for women to be ordained to the position/office of elder, which one must hold to be a pastor-teacher biblically.

Once women began to exert more and more influence, the doctrine of hell was immediately questioned ala: I’d never send one of my children to a place like that, and in came some supposed universal “Fatherhood of God and Brotherhood of Man.” And once that position is adopted, about all that’s really left is the push for equality of all people; so these dying—and in many cases already dead—mainline denominations “welcomed” those openly, and unrepentantly, practicing homosexuality. As a matter of fact, in my home state of New Hampshire we happen to have Gene Robinson the first openly “Gay Bishop” of the Episcopal Church.

So it’s against this background that I’m doing my best in attempting to light up the night sky by Holy Scripture over the battleground in order that you might be able to see the EC troops now advancing their Growing Gay Agenda In Evangelicalism. And my reconnaissance information leads me to believe that Brian McLaren’s call for a five year moratorium in discussing homosexuality was actually a calculated rooz, i.e. a trick, in order to buy more time for the “deep shift” the EC’s been looking for. During this time EC advocates have continued their take over of the leadership structures of mainstream denominations, the chairs in their church-related schools, and their use of evangelical publishing houses to fire forth their antibiblical propaganda.

I’m afraid the truth is, now that EC forces sense their strength within the heart of the apostatizing evangelical community, they have lately been brazen in openly embracing well-known front line gay-affirming Outlaw Preachers like “pastor” Jay Bakker; what, you really thought that was simply a coincidence? And there’s been more repositioning of pro-homosexual troops as Jones-Pagitt featured “Queer Affirming” woman “pastor” Nadia Bolz-Weber and gay-affirming PCUSA pastrix Nanette Sawyer at their recent apostasia-palooza  Christianity 21; not to mention that Jones has already publicly blessed practicing lesbian “Christ-follower” Adele Sakler aka Existential Punk who heads up the EC group Queermergent.

As we close this out, next time we’ll look a little bit closer at this video itself; but for now, what really ought to be of concern to both you, and Andrew Marin, is the implication of the following comment in his recent post Andrew Interviews Tony Jones:
