GAY AWAKENING FOR MAINSTREAM EVANGELICALISM GROWS CLOSER
By Ken Silva pastor-teacher on Jan 14, 2011 in AM Missives, Current Issues, Emergence Christianity, Emergent Church, Features, Homosexuality/"Christian"
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20)
And You Can Thank The Emerging Church
Over the past couple of years Apprising Ministries has been covering gay-affirming “pastor” Jay Bakker of a sad church social club by the name of Revolution:NYC; and as I told you e.g. in Jay Bakker Reflects The Sad Condition Of The Visible Church, make no mistake, Bakker’s star is on the rise within the sinfully ecumenical Emergent Church aka the Emerging Church—which is a cult of a postmodern form of liberalism now firmly entrenched within mainstream of the visible church.
As I’ve told you before, Bakker heads up a group of largely biblically illiterate, and I say a rather rapscallion bunch spiritually, who anointed themselves Outlaw Preachers (OPs) and galvanized around him. You need to understand that Bakker is tip-of-the-spear for the EC’s pushing for acceptance within evangelicalism that the deviant and sinful lifestyle of having sexual relations with another of the same sex, i.e homosexuality, is a viable one for the regenerated Christian. This is a key EC point of attack as it continues its assault upon proper biblical Christianity; and Bakker’s whole shtick is spreading the myth that the practice of homosexuality isn’t always sinful.
You may recall from Doug Pagitt And Homosexual Sin and Correcting Tony Jones that two-thirds of the unholy Emergent Church trinity of apostates, Living Spiritual Teacher and EC guru Brian McLaren, universalist Emerging Church pastor Doug Pagitt, and his friend Tony Jones, the progressive “theologian in residence” at Solomon’s Porch, are out supporting those in the sin homosexual activity. McLaren’s morratorium apparrently preventing him from also coming out along with Pagitt and Jones; be that, as it may, like Emerging Church rock star pastor Rob Bell it’s only a matter of time before he does, if he hasn’t already. All part of the loathsome legacy of the Emerging Church.
I reiterate again that online apologetics and discernment ministries have tried to warn you the primary goal of the EC has always been to attack the Protestant Reformation—specifically sola Scriptura—but, unfortunately, the warnings went unheeded; and this is the reason why God moved me to begin covering thus growing acceptance within evangelicalism of homosexuality as a viable lifestyle for the regenerated Christian. You also need to know that the EC is already making acceptance of this sin of sexual immorality for the Christian a prime hot-button issue within the church visible. This perverse view has already spread much more deeply than you may even be aware.
Consider that I told you in Philip Yancey And The Gay Christian Network and Affirming Christian Network, Philip Yancey, And Gay Christian Network that Philip Yancey, Editor at Large for Christianity Today, was “this year’s featured keynote speaker” at the recently concluded The Mountaintop Experience by something called The Gay Christian Network. Then I showed you this mainstream evangelical’s nauseating nonstance in Philip Yancey And A Non-Stance On Homosexuality, which is why in Word Faith “Bishop” Jim Swilley Announces That He’s Gay I told you I believe a major evangelical figure will come out as homosexual “soon” serving to fully detonate this whole gay debate, currently ripping apart and dividing mainline denominations, right with the mainstream of evangelicalism itself.
Against this backdrop I now point you to Is Evangelical Christianity Having a Great Gay Awakening?, a HuffPost released yesterday by Religion Columnist aka “God Girl” Cathleen Falsani. She begins by telling us:
As an evangelical, that last part is not something that, traditionally and culturally, I’m supposed to say out loud. For most of my life, I’ve been taught that it’s impossible to be both openly gay and authentically Christian.
When a number of my friends “came out” shortly after our graduation from Wheaton College in the early ’90s, first I panicked and then I prayed. What would Jesus do? I asked myself (and God). (Online source)
Using Tired Old Arguments Of Liberalism To Promote The Gay Agenda Proves Nothing
Then she lays down the famed argument of classic liberal theology: “According to biblical accounts, Jesus said very little, if anything, about homosexuality. But he spent loads of time talking, preaching, teaching and issuing commandments about love.” Yes, you can almost hear the applause of the unbelieving, can’t you; but you see, that’s not true. The Bible clearly teaches that the Christ, Jesus the God-Man of Nazareth, while fully human is also fully God. Since [a]ll Scripture is breathed out by God (cf. 2 Timothy 3:16), then what God says—including the Old Testament—Jesus also says. Yeah ‘fraid so; the prohibitions against same-sex sexual relations in the Bible, no matter where we read them, are spoken also by Jesus.
It’s not unloving to tell the truth; you might get into a lot of trouble for telling it, but it is not unloving. Notice above that the “evangelical” Falsani graduated from the evangelical Bible school Wheaton College and yet she confesses she “wasn’t sure whether homosexuality actually was a sin.” This brings me to the main reason why I began covering the disgusting compromise festering within evangelicalism since the mid 80’s when its seminaries began teaching the refried Roman Catholic mysticism “discovered” by Living Spiritual Teacher and Quaker mystic Richard Foster, and now perpetrated within the mainstream of evangelicalism as supposed Spiritual Formation with an able assist from his spiritual twin SBC minister Dallas Willard.
AM has been doing what we can to send you clear warning concerning the grave danger of kicking out sola Scriptura in favor of the highly subjective [i.e. feelings-oriented] Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism (CSM) of Foster-Willardism. I’ve been using the issue of homosexuality to light up the night sky with the Word of God so that you could see the advance of enemy forces. The reason being, the sinfulness of homosexuality is just about as clear as it gets in Holy Scripture:
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
Completely consistent with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in [Christ’s] name (cf. Luke 24:47), no one who is practicing sin without repentance will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Very inclusive: All sin; and so, apart from Jesus Christ, all die. Evangelicalism, by embracing the postmodern liberalism spreading through the Emerging Church and using these warped and toxic teachings in their Young Adult and Youth ministries, is now on the very same path as the mainline denominations who sold out to liberalism. They would embrace ecumenicism, CSM, bowed to the feminist movement ordaining women; then out went the doctrine of Hell, and next comes the egregious ordination of homosexual clergy ripping them apart right now.
If you think that above progression was a move of God, then you seriously need to have your spiritual head examined; and do you actually think that Jesus, after watching the mainline of the visible church injest people-pleasing liberal Kool-Aid, is going to give supposedly conservative Protestant evangelicalism a pass? I’ll have more on this another time but, for now, let me point out that along with the jelly-like Yancey Falsani muses: “Finding clear theological answers to questions about homosexuality has been” decidedly difficult. Translation: Finding people who claim to be evangelical but will tell me what I already wanted to believe about the practice of homosexuality wasn’t easy until the Emerging Church polluted the waters. I suggest Falsani make the time to read:
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4)
Why do I say she’s quilty of the above? Simple. Consider the following from Falsani:
I’m grateful for a growing number of evangelical leaders who are bravely offering a different answer. In his new book Fall to Grace: A Revolution of God, Self and Society, Jay Bakker, the son of Jim Bakker and the late Tammy Faye Messner, gives clear and compelling answers to my nagging questions.
Simply put, homosexuality is not a sin, says Bakker, 35, pastor of Revolution NYC, a Brooklyn evangelical congregation that meets in a bar. (Online source)
News flash: If Jay Bakker is an evangelical, then I’m the head of The Village Council at Emergent Village.
