Recently on Slice of Laodicea my good friend and brother in arms Chris Pajak wrote a post called Imagination and God’s Future? This post itself is actually based on an article in Next-Wave Ezine by Len Hjalmarson. Pajak correctly points out that what Hjalmarson writes “is an excellent example of what happens when you relegate God’s sovereignty to the limitations of men.”

Emerging And Making It Up As We Go

Hjalmarson opens with a quote from that noted “theologian” Albert Einstein who states something that is actually dead wrong when it comes to knowing God: “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” However, it perfectly sums up what is so spiritually harmful about the convoluted “conversation” of the Emergent Church. Here we have the elevation of the neo-orthodox (at best) subjective existential experience (vain imagination) over the Biblical Reformed truth of sola Scriptura (absolute knowledge) when it comes to knowing Who God really is.

Hjalmarson states a couple of tired postmodern McLarenisms such as how we who hold to the historic orthodox Christian faith are supposedly “deeply immersed and accommodated,” due to our ignorance, into some “narrow set of values, anchored solidly in a limited Enlightenment epistemology.” Excuse me; this “narrow set” of Biblical principles is wrong Len? Might I remind you of something that Jesus, Whom you claim to follow, says:

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14)

Now I fully understand that this doesn’t play well to the misplaced of the Evangelical Church of Deceit (ECoD), of which the Emergent Church is a part, of uniting all “faith traditions” (read: religions), but this is exactly what an eyewitness named Matthew records God Himself as having said. The rest of the article is the usual EC refried rhetoric of how important “artists” are, which reveals its own seeker sensitive root for its “target audience.” Just as hypocritical as the Purpose Driven Church and the Word Faith Church the other seeker friendly pillars of the ECoD.

Emergent A-Logical Doublespeak And Spiritual Coma

My friend Chris then uses another quote from Hjalmarson’s article by asking:

Does anyone know what this means; “We now know that human transformation does not happen through didacticism or through excessive certitude, but through the playful entertainment of another scripting of reality that may subvert the old given text and its interpretation and lead to the embrace of an alternative text and its redescription of reality.”

Pajak states the absolute truth when he says, “The only way these people can say less, is to keep talking.” I then added the following comment:

You know what this whole Emergent – “Emperor Has No Clothes” – Church reminds me of? Remember in the late 60’s and early 70’s how people would say: “Talking Loud And Saying Nothing!” Bingo!

Men and women, many years ago the “Prince of Preachers,” Charles Spurgeon, said of the Church of Jesus Christ:

Brethren, there is no hope for China, no hope for the world, no hope for own city, while the Church is sluggish and lethargic.

Building upon what Chris has already brought up I now ask:

If what Spurgeon says is true, then what happens to the world when so many in the the Body of Christ have practiced Contemplative Spirituality until they are in a spiritual coma induced by this so-called “Christian” meditation (i.e. transcendental meditation) as they seek a fantasy Global Family through uniting some alleged Fatherhood of God to a mythical Brotherhood of Man and the so-called “Faith Tradition” in which you reside?

Well, people end up going to Hell in droves in this generation because the Church of Jesus Christ is infested with these mystics and their reimagined Gnostic Mysticism. However the absolute Truth of the Word of the one true and living God of the Bible forever destroys this fallacious fantasy Family of the new evangelicalism:

1 Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth! 2 Sing to the LORD, bless His name; tell of His salvation from day to day. 3 Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all the peoples! 4 For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods. 5 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the LORD made the heavens. (Psalm 96:1-5, ESV)

God Himself Will Not Tolerant Of False gods

In this time of timid tolerance and accepting acquiescence by leaders within this ECoD, duplicious daughter of the apostate Church of Rome, like Living Spiritual Teacher Richard Foster, they would no doubt have to consider the above words from the LORD God Almighty Himself as a bit “judgmental” and quite “intolerant.”

As these spiritual fools pursue their ecumenical interfaith/spiritual powwows they may also wish to prayerfully and carefully reconsider verse 5 again: For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols. So exactly what would I as a child of the one true and living God learn from meditating together with Sufi Muslims and Buddhists and Hindus, which is specifically what these people are doing?

I would soon learn that the anger of the LORD God burns against those who do so:

“They sacrificed to demons that were no gods, to gods they had never known, to new gods that had come recently, whom your fathers had never dreaded. You were unmindful of the Rock that bore you, and you forgot the God who gave you birth. The LORD saw it and spurned them, because of the provocation of His sons and His daughters.”

“And He said, ‘I will hide my face from them; I will see what their end will be, For they are a perverse generation, children in whom is no faithfulness. They have made me jealous with what is no god; they have provoked me to anger with their idols.’” (Deuteronomy 32:17-21)
