THE FRUIT OF THE EMERGENT CHURCH: DAVE WITH “WHY?”
By Apprising Administrator on Jan 11, 2007 in Emergent Church
“The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.”
(Luke 6:45, ESV)
By Their Fruit We Will Know Them
Here’s yet another example of fruit from the ministries of emerging teachers like Rob Bell and Brian McLaren in the new cult of liberalism that is the Emergent Church.
I present this unsolicited letter to Apprising Ministries without comment that readers may judge for themselves what this particular emerging “heart” has spoken.
Hi,
I have stumbled across your website a couple of times. I want to tell you something. Rob Bell, I strongly believe, was used by the spirit of God to save my faith. Brian McLaren’s books have taught me to be more loving and compassionate to people, even if they are different than me. This, I believe, follows the model of Jesus, who loved and served tax-collectors, prostitutes and other sinners. The people he got angry at? People who condemned those who were earnestly searching for the truth. People like you. I just don’t understand how someone can claim to know and love Jesus, and turn everything he says into a Pharisaical list of do’s and don’t’s (sic).
You say the American church is dying? Well, Mars Hill has people who join up every day to acknowledge Jesus as the savior of their life. They have people who decide to take what they have and use it for the good of this world. What is there to criticize?
But go ahead, continue being miserable…I just want to let you know that what you are doing is not working for anyone except those who already narrow-mindedly and hatefully agree with what you have to say. So keep preaching to the choir. I will continue to read your stuff and laugh. Not because anything you have to say is actually funny, but because sometimes it is funny to see a blind man become so bitter. I will pray that Jesus’ love will warm your heart.
Peace,
Dave
