YOUR APPRISING MINISTRIES SUPPORT IS APPRECIATED
By Ken Silva pastor-teacher on May 11, 2011 in Current Issues
Apprising Ministries is very grateful for the ways God has been extending this labor in the Lord, far beyond anything we’d ever dreamed or imagined when we began this fully integrated auxiliary from Connecticut River Baptist Church (SBC), where I serve as pastor-teacher.
And as I’ve mentioned previously, even though my local church is affiliated with the SBC (for now), this online apologetics and discernment ministry itself is designed as a non-denominational outreach.
Truly we never envisioned ever being among those who are also pioneering this important Internet mission field. With the economy as it is, it’s a difficult time for ministries; especially with the pinch of this economic slide. Donations as a whole had continued to stay down for the most part this past year. That made us cut deeply into our surplus funding, which is what it’s for; but for a while it had dipped to a critical low.
Monthly donations have not yet reached the level where they cover the budget of each month. As a result, each year AM depends upon a few large one-time donations that would come in to re-supply our surplus. There has been some good news in this regard. A couple of donors stepped forward and already covered almost half of what hadn’t come in, which has ensured AM will stay online.
I’ve told you before how the Lord has seen fit to steadily increase the exposure and readership greatly in the nearly 6+ years now that AM has been online. We do remain thankful for the small handful of faithful financial supporters, a couple of which have been with us from the beginning, and who’re making it possible for me to be here. That said, they cannot carry the load alone and we do pray that some of our many readers will also be willing to help as well.
Being that CRBC is so small they are not able to supply a parsonage or insurance, though I do receive a small stipend from them as funds allow. However, I work AM out of the small home we rent so we’re able to keep a very low overhead. To give you an idea of how within reach our budget actually is, each day there are thousands of readers coming by AM; if as few as 100 people were to send a check for $20 each month we’d then be well within reach to meet budget for the month.
The fact is I have no staff to assist me with research, writing, answering email questions, etc. and as it stands right now AM still receives no financial assistance at all from any other agencies or churches. In addition, we have no product to sell, and as such, a work like depends entirely upon the generosity of God’s people. Also, at this time AM doesn’t have any radio program from which to make appeals, though that may change this year.
We also continue to pray, and remain hopeful, that a few churches might be led of God to take on AM as even a small part of their mission giving. Perhaps you’ve been blessed through the work here and maybe you might consider helping to support this labor in the Lord. At this time a gift of any amount—whether one time or on a regular basis—goes a long way toward helping to keep AM available along the Internet Front.
Although surplus has been increased, so far this year we’ve started running around $350 behind our budget each month. We still need to see things improve in this regard so we don’t eat up our surplus funds entirely.
