T.D. JAKES HAWKS NEW SELF-HELP BOOK

In recent Apprising Ministries articles like T.D. Jakes Repents Of Word Faith Heresy And Mythology? and T.D. Jakes Endorses WF Pastrix Paula White…Again I’ve been covering a very critical issue concerning the move to make a mainstream evangelical out of “trinitarian-modalist” and Word Faith prosperity preacher T.D. Jakes.

That issue is: Jakes has shown absolutely no indication that he’s repented of his modalism, Word Faith heresy or his penchant for scratching itching ears a la his good friend and fellow WF heretic Joel Osteen (cf. 2 Timothy 4:3-4). Hence my piece Megachurch Pastors Joel Osteen and T.D. Jakes Unite and Why You Should Care.

Which makes it very curious at to why a couple of years ago James MacDonald and Mark Driscoll would actually open the door for the WF mogul T.D. Jakes into mainstream of evangelicalism via their Elephant Room 2. I guess in the end we are left with the old adage, megachurch pastors of a feather flock together.

As I see it, Joel Osteen even shares Jakes’ ministry philosophy:

I don’t know, but perhaps this also appeals to MacDonald and Driscoll has well. Be that as it may, the product that WF snake oil salesmen Jakes and Osteen sell the most are books of sappy self-help jargon. And the world eats it up as evidenced e.g. by Oprah Winfrey’s Lifeclass, Super Soul Sunday & Elephant Room’s T.D. Jakes.

Which brings me nicely around to T.D. Jakes to sign self-help book Wednesday in Northvale by NorthJersey.com‘s Jim Beckerman. He informs us that tonight Jakes has a book signing in, of all places, Northvale, NJ at Books & Greetings. Beckernam wonders:

Is a little voice inside your head saying, “I should see T.D. Jakes at Books & Greetings tonight”? Well, listen to it! In his book, Jakes argues that your gut instincts are the right ones. (source)

Ah yes, a take-off on William Arthur West’s ol’ chestnut of humanism, “If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it.” ((http://bit.ly/1j4xEKN, accessed 5/7/14.)) Straight out of the pop philosophy of the late Robert Schuller, to whom both Joel Osteen and T.D. Jakes are heavily indebted, whether they know it or not.

Beckerman continues:

TELL ME MORE: Jakes’ own instincts have served him well. As a megachurch pastor, BET TV star (“The Potter’s Touch”), producer (the current “Heaven Is for Real,” “Winnie Mandela”), writer and actor, Jakes has become a cross-media phenomenon. So he may be worth listening to when he says, in the latest of his 33 (so far) books, “Instinct: The Power to Unleash Your Inborn Drive,” that you should listen to your hunches. (source)

Indeed Jakes’ hunches have made him millions of dollars. He’s very adept at telling people what they want to hear…for a price. In this case for $25 a pop as with a book purchase you get “free” admission. Um, wait a minute; wouldn’t you have just paid a fee, though? But I digress.

What utter rubbish; especially coming from someone who’s supposed to be a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The fact is that it’s “your inborn drive” that separates you from God, unless you’ve been born again in Christ. You see, Jesus didn’t have anything good to say about this inborn drive of human beings:

“For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.” (Mark 7:21-23)

You may believe me when I tell you that people sure don’t need a T.D. Jakes to be able to unleash this sin nature. However, what they do need, is a crucified and risen Savior, Christ Jesus of Nazareth, in order to be freed from it.

Jim Beckerman now concludes:

We have a hunch you’ll be inspired. But should you trust someone else’s hunches? We’ll get back to you. (source)

Well Jim, let me save you the time. Here’s a hunch you can trust; save yourself $25 and stay away from false teachers like T.D. Jakes as it is written that his ilk do appear:

having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. For among them arethose who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.
(2 Timothy 3:5-7)

Don’t you listen to those who would tell you to trust your inner instinct, i..e your heart, because God has already told us that:

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?
(Jeremiah 17:9)

May you come to understand that real success begins when you believe and receive the repentance and forgiveness of sins offered in Jesus’ Name. Then God says the wise person will:

seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Matthew 6:33)

Therein lies true success; success that will last…forever…
